    Pros

    The work is challenging. My co-workers are like family. Well paying positions. Great training programs. A strong utility that will provide its employees with great experience.

    Cons

    Long isolated drives into work. Tough to advance. Work environment is heavy industrial. Organizational structure is very slow to make changes.

    Advice to Management

    Try to find better ways to retain high-talent individuals.

    I have been working at Duke Energy as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great pay and the majority of the people I have worked with have been outstanding people and have become lifelong friends.

    Cons

    Management does not provide support unless it is an emergency - company has hard time getting ahead of the curve because they are too busy putting out "fires".

    Your department is small enough to give you relevant work and projects. Get to go on trips to see different plants. Learn a lot about power, energy, and transmission

    Sometimes you don't have enough work. Strict on amount of time you can take off.

    the company is really good. only con may be that overtime can be a requirement when the weather is not good
