    Pros

Learned a lot in my contractor internship, good opportunity for networking. Good job security for full-time employees, less so for contractors.

    Cons

Experience can depend on teams. I was on the business side of things, but would have liked to see how engineers/plant employees work

    Pros

Really good benefits, esp 401k plan. Vacation time is ok. Job security is very strong. If your department/organization is getting trimmed down, you’ll more than likely get a different position within Duke somewhere. Can work from home occasionally, not regularly... depends on your department/manager.

    Cons

White walls & cubicles... nothing too exciting for your Monday-Friday 8-5. Not one of the “fun places to work” that some of your friends might work at with lower benefits and lower job security.

Poor management at local power plant level.

    Pros

    Salary and job security.

    Cons

Poor management at the local level. And that would be the management above the front line supervision. It is very clear that the upper management at the plant I work at has little concern for the employees or the equipment and their sole focus is their own advancement.

    Pros

Better contract pay than CLT banks You will meet some decent, competent people there Relative job security

    Cons

Poor leadership Toxic coworkers - some people are stuck there - beware! Bureaucratic (bloated middle mgmt), resistant to change Large company, lotsa politics - big 4 consultants come in to make decisions/get things done while you dont get a raise, no $$$$ Poor program/project mgmt - it takes yrs for a decision (funding/ownership) Declining revenues without a realistic plan of how/where to pivot Resistant to allow work from home (WFH) - high turnover creates paranoia when someone WFH ("they must be interviewing") Have to pay to park - really?

    Constant Chaos, Drama and Backstabbing

    Pros

Great teamwork with other Research Specialists, wonderful mentors and true team environment where everyone was willing to help one another.

    Cons

As a company, Duke Energy is all about the bottom dollar and they are in a constant state of shifting and flux. There is no job security! In the Land Services department alone, management was the primary cause of creating drama and stirring the post than e
