I have been working at Duke University Health System full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing management. Dan Dore is the best manager you could ask for. Ask anyone in the department, and they will agree. The benefits/PTO are great, and the department seeks to reinvest in the employees.

    Cons

Low base pay - Duke seems to receive several applications for each job opportunity. The job market seems saturated in this area, and the base salary is low. The retirement plan/health care/benefits were better than other offers I received.

I have been working at Duke University Health System full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Excellent work life balance with ability to easily take requested time off. Excellent retirement and overall benefits package. Excellent, professional team of skilled clinicians with overall welcoming environment. Supportive of APTA involvement. Full time benefits at 30 hrs/wk

    Cons

Poor communication throughout the department with leadership that does not promote professional growth if any time is taken from revenue generation. Full time clinicians must work 10 weekend days a year in the inpatient setting. NO continuing education funding without extensive requests. No charting time, unpaid lunch. Minimal opportunity for upward professional career growth. LOW salary with very poor incremental...
