I worked at Duke University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good health insurance, beautiful campus (and area), very nice dining hall

    Cons

Outdated research facilities for natural sciences and engineering, very slow process for setting up your online Duke account as new employee, expensive employee parking rates / In general the benefits are not as good as they claim

I have been working at Duke University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good to have the backing of a university with the prestige of Duke. Students are amazing to work with--smart, obviously, but creative and humble. Good health insurance.

    Cons

Siloed in a major way. Think the prestige offers more than it does, and you end up feeling a little like you're somehow missing how "great" it is to work at Duke.

I have been working at Duke University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent enough health benefits and "golden shackles" to make it entice you to stay

    Cons

Pretty awful day-to-day benefits like parking, gym membership, etc. They change benefits without notice. They clearly prize rich alumni who can give back lots of money. The rest of us are chaff.

    Advice to Management

    Honor your word

I have been working at Duke University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The benefits are decent compared to many companies and the 401 matching is a plus . I think the health insurance should be better especially working for one of the top medical facilities in the US.

    Cons

Depending on which department you work for raises can be as little as .40

    Advice to Management

The employees should be given the opportunity to evaluate management.
