I have been working at Duke University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good to have the backing of a university with the prestige of Duke. Students are amazing to work with--smart, obviously, but creative and humble. Good health insurance.

    Cons

Siloed in a major way. Think the prestige offers more than it does, and you end up feeling a little like you're somehow missing how "great" it is to work at Duke.

I have been working at Duke University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great to be around such innovation. Great medical insurance. If you happen to work in a research group with a reasonable advisor, it can be a great experience.

    Cons

Duke is very focused on keeping up with other universities, so their faculty are worked hard and spread thin. This often means that staff are not treated with as much respect and patience as one deserves. If one has an ally in your direct P.I., then this problem is minimized.

    Advice to Management

Respect support staff more. They keep the university running.

I have been working at Duke University full-time

    Pros

It's an amazing school with great opportunities. Everyone I have worked with has been very nice and supportive.

    Cons

They do not provide parking for employees and I have to pay $50/month to park a mile away from my office. Also if you are a new graduate they will pay you the minimum amount for your job title no matter what experience you may have.
