I worked at Dunkin' Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pros make you want to stay forever... great benefits, fun work environment, much respect for their social responsibility and contributions. They make an effort to be relevant and current.

    Cons

The cons are if you are one of the unlucky ones to land a bad manager. Some people are just not meant to manage people regardless of all the great self improvement classes offered and I wish HR would take note of that more. Management and above say they want transparency but they really don't want to know. When you have a bad boss, you basically have to suck it up.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees at all levels. If they have solid history and suddenly there's an issue with their new manager, it could be the manager. Don't assume the issue lies with the secondary level employee.

I worked at Dunkin' Brands full-time

    Pros

Great people; free coffee, donuts, bagels and ice-cream in-office; visionary leadership; company is integrated into the broader industry and therefore are very agile when tactical adjustments to the plan are needed.

    Cons

Very little room for upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Talent management goes deeper than just HR. To meaningfully promote from within a deeper understanding of the various people within functional groups is needed. Because much of the team works remotely, this needs to be an intensive and continuous focus.

    Pros

Half day on Friday, Free Coffee and Ice Cream

    Cons

Some managers tend to discriminate against employees of color. Even if you are a white contractor you will get treated better than employees. However if you are an employee of color, you will not get any opportunities as managers will hire white contractors! Unless you are desperate for that half day on Friday, run away! This is the place where your career will die!

    Advice to Management

Mandatory trainings do not help curb discrimination.

    Pros

A great deal of decision making authority that is independent from Head office in Boston allowed to spearhead all processes with acceleration that is not usually possible in major corporation before BRAND-CENTRIC restructuring started.
Employees have opportunity to strike a good family/job balance

    Cons

On a global scale Manufacturing decisions are made to accommodate Middle-Eastern markets before taking into account smaller markets, which frequently presents challenges to local teams working with local customers.
Canadian operations are painfully understaffed and working with minuscule resources vs peers in the US

    Advice to Management

Address Canada independently from what other (bigger) markets require. Explore 'Glocalisation' in the way where there is a better balance between global economies of scale and local market needs.

    Pros

If your young and can handle long workload then this is a good start for you. Opportunity for people with low management experience.

    Cons

Long days, hard to keep employees, having to work like an employee during the rush instead of building and solidifying guest experience.

    Advice to Management

    Be in with upper management

I worked at Dunkin' Brands (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and compensation package. Good perks (non pun intended). Liked the people. I was allowed the opportunity to be able the lead and develop others to grow

    Cons

Very poor work life balance and support structure. Franchisor only...cannot operate. Not in the business of operating. Systems and applications are contradictory at times.
