I worked at Dunwoody College (More than a year)

    Pros

The work is very rewarding. Many of my students have progressed on in the industry and are doing well-paid work on high profile projects. The organization has a great mission and delivers an education that will get any hard working student employed. In the event of a student grading dispute, management was fair and supportive. Co-workers are great, and management was professional and provided good overall leadership. The position offered me a great opportunity to gain experience and make a contribution to the industry.

    Cons

Organizational support for evening-only instructors can be weak. You have to take initiative to find your own solutions to problems. Received very little in terms of course-support. All courses needed full development of materials, quizzes and tests- which was much more time consuming then I had anticipated. Some students come to the program with little or no motivation and can be disruptive and unruly. It helps if you are a confident leader and can be very adaptive and motivated for your students. This position isn't really for those seeking work-life balance. Both the students and the instructors are often enduring the late hours for a period of time to better themselves with education or experience.

    Advice to Management

The education program is great. It seems like you should be able to attract many more quality students to your program.

    Pros

College attracts quality students that are a pleasure to work with. Top notch and friendly faculty.

    Cons

Even thought no classes are scheduled, faculty still puts in 40 hour work weeks during the summer.

I have been working at Dunwoody College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The staff here is very flexible and accomodating on a personal level. They respect the skills and abilities that an employee possesses. There is an atmosphere of professionalism among both the staff and the students, who come from many walks of life. There is a lot of motivation to learn and work hard.

    Cons

There are limited student worker positions and sometimes many students are applying simultaneously, which can be challenging. These are listed online, but very frequent checking is a must.
