    Pros

flexible work environment, autonomy, extensive "alumni" network

    Cons

limited information flow from senior mgmt, firm is bipartisan on paper but skews heavily republican, more clarity on business development potential when a large firm "conflicts" out many potential clients

    Advice to Management

create transparent management structure especially on compensation

I worked at Dutko full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    some talented and experienced professionals

    Cons

over all focus was extract $ from clients, lack of institutional integrity from sr. mgmt. Client pitch meetings were often fictional yarns worthy of hollywood

    Advice to Management

honesty is the best policy - its a competitive world but lying about the firm and capabilities for clients only makes for short term relationships and puts staff in an awkward position of explaining or "cleaning up" the sales hyperbole" down the road...also constantly changing and opaque compensation structures leads to confusion and morale issues.

  3. "Leadership Vacuum"

    Pros

Good work-life balance, convenient location on Hill.

    Cons

Huge leadership vacuum - no one is in charge, important decisions and news are not communicated to employees. Firm does not effectively evaluate employees' contributions - favoritism is the name of the game, and "favorites" are rewarded. Promotions from within are rare - firm would rather "bolt-on" outside hires.

    Advice to Management

Hire new management, better communication, keep the employees you left have happy - more than 30 have left in the past 15 months.
