I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great employee discount and never a dull moment. Fairly flexible scheduling with enough notice.

    Cons

Holiday seasons are VERY busy, they have black out periods where you cannot take any time off for certain periods of time

    I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time

    Pros

Fun retail job. Unique and interesting concept, co-workers are fun! Job can be fun and shifts are usually eventful

    Cons

Management is not great, the schedules were always late and they would nit pick things, like not clocking out on time but refusing to close the store at night if we are busy and not let us recover or stock until all customers were out of the store so naturally everyone worked past their scheduled time

    Advice to Management

It's a candy store not rocket science. Please don't take everything so seriously! It should be a fun but professional working environment and actually implement the things you say you're going to

I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly staff, lots of scenery, colorful customers, smell of candy & chocolate & fudge, happy faces, free candy sometimes too.

    Cons

The music & playlist options, the stale candy, the management and who they favor. Weird hours, sometimes fakeness, customers who steal.

I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, managers are really invested in creating a great place for employees. Working with candy, how great is that? Day-to-day work in the store is pretty chill, they'll keep you busy but make sure you have plenty of support. Co-workers are great, I made some awesome friendships here.

    Cons

Higher-up management a bit out of touch. "On call" scheduling and stricter uniform policies detrimental to store company culture. Hearing the same "candy" themed songs all day on a loop slowly wears away at your sanity over time. Tourists who shop there can be total jerks, and keep your eyes peeled for creepy adults sticking their bare hands into the bins. EW!

    Advice to Management

Don't fix what isn't broken! Hire enough staff to run the store, not so many that people can't get hours. Understand that hiring students means being flexible to their schedules. That said, in-store events and promotions are so much fun, really make the place the great place to work. I have many great memories from this place!

I worked at Dylan's Candy BAR part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun part-time work. I really enjoyed working there during the summers before college classes started up again. Paid well enough for East Hampton lifestyle and occasionally you could enjoy candy.

    Cons

The manager my last summer working there rubbed a lot of people the wrong way causing a lot of the part-time workers to quit. It is a candy store, there should be a fun environment rather than the one that specific manager was pushing.

    Advice to Management

Find managers that motivate the staff and get along with them. Avoid hiring managers that would rather alienate the entire staff in order to get one extra dollar of profit.

    Pros

Fun environment . Working with families and kids. Great selection of candies and fun products

    Cons

There is a disconnect from the Vision of the brand which is great and the way the managers in the store run the business.

    Advice to Management

Come out of the office and actually train and interact with your team members. Videos and morning meetings do not make a well rounded employee.
