I have been working at Dymax full-time

    Pros

Dymax is a small but dynamic company with a performance-driven but family-oriented culture. They are not afraid to reward high-performers or get rid of dead weight, which makes for a really efficient work environment where you can rely on everyone to do their jobs well. Company is growing which helps build confidence in the stability of jobs. Competitive pay, adequate benefits, and a friendly and supportive work environment are all pros. As a family-owned business, they still have several events per year (Summer work picnic, Christmas party, etc) to reward workers and build the culture. Good work/life balance expectations

    Cons

Benefits are only adequate and in some areas sub-par; location in Torrington, CT is a bit out of the way and far from preferred housing; CT is expensive overall

I worked at Dymax (More than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere, employees are cared about, a good structure of work instructions and onboarding help employees understand how their role effects the process from beginning to end.

    Cons

The only con is that I can no longer say they are my current employer, due to illness. 😞

    Advice to Management

Always keep in mind that quality over quantity will keep you on top. Some fresh ideas in multimedia marketing are worth pursuing.

I have been working at Dymax full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The products and technology are interesting
There are nice people but they are outweighed by the negativity
Personal pro: it is close to home

    Cons

Zero team spirit, managers do not listen to their team and instead impose their will.
There are co-workers who will rather see the ship go down than change their ways for the better. The environment is hostile and full of backstabbing. If you make a mistake you will hear it time after time and the good work goes by ignored. The high turn over rate is reflective of the revolving door of employees.

I worked at Dymax (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Growth oriented company that may bring great opportunity to the right people.

Management team is bright and aggressive.

Dymax treats the employees very well.

    Cons

It seems there are groups or "clicks" of people who make observations and then report their view to senior management... it almost like being on an opposing team at times.

It seems they are constantly looking to stir things up.

    Advice to Management

Senior managers are stretched so much... literally managing activity around the world and in the same building... it seems too difficult to get a clear view on anything.

    Pros

Growing company! If you thrive in an every changing environment this company is for you. If you want to get in on the ground floor and really build something great than this is a great place. Family owned company, flexible work environment, but there is a lot of work.

    Cons

With change and growth, sometimes everything is not exactly spelled out for you. You need to be a self starter willing to take some risks.

    Advice to Management

Performance management of mid-level managers. The OZ principle is good but use it more. Break down the barriers between regions.

    Pros

Competitive vacation policy, great place for learning

    Cons

Poor hiring techniques/appointments. Classic managerial detachment from employees.

    Advice to Management

Core values anyone? Leading employees to expect year end bonuses that usually equal 5 -7% of your salary, and then without any warning or explanation, not giving anyone anything. Everyone realizes that, yes, it's called a bonus for a reason, but not even mentioning it even at the event where they are usually given is out and out bad form. You don't think most of the employees had bought their families holiday gifts with the intent of using there expected bonus to pay for? Obviously this left a lot of folks hurting for the holidays. Once again its not the fact that there was no bonuses, but the lack of decency, and understanding for employees who may not have the financial means to weather these decisions without warning that shows the true disconnect between the top and the bottom. In another review a former employee share a grievance about issues with senior P.H.D. employees who seem to lack basic lab skills and safety concepts. Dymax would benefit greatly from using most of their extensive interview time ( about 4-5 hours) to attempt to gain an understanding of a perspective employees ability to use common sense and learned judgment to make the best decision in given situations.
Though many of my experiences with upper management have been quite professional, the fact that a upper manager (at least I'm assuming by the way it was written), would post a review here on glassdoor apparently calling previous reviewers liars, and quoting a FORMERLY competitive tuition program instead of doing the "core value/leader" thing to do and attempt to understand employee grievances and come to a conclusion that both pushes employees to perform both efficiently and profitably, while at the same time maintaining employee/manager trust and building a work force of well trained, well compensated employees that are motivated to make Dymax the best it can be. I see these as relatively simple principles for which there is no excuse for managers to not fully understand. How can one feel obligated to follow the core values a company is trying to push while the concepts are seemingly ignored by upper management.

    Pros

Interesting products. Good customers. Great people at the execution level in the plant. I made some life long friends, some still work there.

    Cons

They are redefining the "Peter principle". Management is poor in self evaluation but quick to blame others and "market conditions".

    Advice to Management

Save your money. You will need it when the revolving door spits you out.
