    Pros

Provides the opportunity to support the troops; has been around 70 years; locations all aroind thr world; HQ in DC; plenty of opportunity to improve.

    Cons

No consistency in leadership; favoritism is prevalent, know the right person and you can go to the top; no structured career progression.

    Advice to Management

Treat employees fairly, pay personnel market rates consistently, not just for favorites.

I worked at DynCorp International (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-Workers were great people who truly care!

    Cons

Company lacks the ability or leadership to move forward to the 21st century. Systems and process are over 20 years old tech. Instead, they throw people at problems, then lay them off once or twice a year as a replacement method from actually performance managing and rewarding top performers. High lack of mentorship, lack of job progression, focus or career path.

    Advice to Management

get the stomach to centralize your systems, instead of wasting money on band-aids, performance manage your employees, and eliminate waste and manual effort. You would make more money in the long run.

Expensive benefits, no raise. May have to travel overseas. Could be dangerous. I have lost some people overseas.Management not very supportive.

I have been working at DynCorp International full-time

    Pros

Good pay and good people to work with

    Cons

Benefits extremely expensive and not worth the money. Not enough hands on learning employees have to worry about layoffs quite frequently. Hard to switch and get better job opportunities within the company pretty much have to stay in the same position you start at.

    Advice to Management

Lower deductible and listen to your employees wants and needs

    Pros

Pay is good if you negotiate well. There are some really good people.

    Cons

Benefits are just barely OK, company is shifting more burden to employee each year. Personnel turnover is constant, if you can keep the same team for a year, you are very lucky. Executives have all been cycled over the last two years. Not seeing any direction yet. Company continues to bleed money and does not appear to be winning any significant contracts.

    Advice to Management

Win contracts that actually make money

    Pros

Change in Leadership on the horizon; hopeful change in Proposals so that we may begin to win work.

    Cons

Complacent work environment, Weak HR.... REALLY WEAK. No one is held accountable for their inability to perform the work that they were hired to do in Project Controls. HR decisions has hindered the ability of our direct manager. The people who know cost can not staff to the level needed with the talent required to make a difference. HR is the worst I have ever seen. We are not talking about most HR workers, I am talking about Management and Senior Management. They will not hold people accountable when management brings them an issue with their employees. Their actions are appalling.

    Advice to Management

Hold people accountable so that my manager who knows what is supposed to happen can make it happen. Replace HR with employees who can aid managers in managing when there is an issue. Do NOT lay off people who WONT or DONT work, Fire them!

    Pros

Good company when they are winning deals... shuffled 3 CEO's and 5 CIO's in 3 years,

    Cons

Running joke as we never know if our bade will work to get into door. Always lurking are layoffs and once an "all hands meeting" is announced we check to see if our peers on there as it is their way to move all from office that are not or sometime are getting layoff.

    Advice to Management

Win deals and be prepared financially when market slows so you do not cut good people.

    Pros

Serve and support our military and Department of State all over the world. Recognition to families that have lost ones that were DynCorp employees. Great people on the ground that work hard and love what they do. Hire a lot of former military.

    Cons

At high levels of leadership, they don't follow their published values, it is mostly for show. Let go of good people and they retain the political ones and no employment security. Company is in turmoil due to poor leadership, a lot of been fired but seems as if some are still there.

    Advice to Management

Private equity company, retain those who produce and don't get fooled by political and suit characters who tend to be all air about themselves.
