I worked at DynCorp International (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-Workers were great people who truly care!

    Cons

Company lacks the ability or leadership to move forward to the 21st century. Systems and process are over 20 years old tech. Instead, they throw people at problems, then lay them off once or twice a year as a replacement method from actually performance managing and rewarding top performers. High lack of mentorship, lack of job progression, focus or career path.

    Advice to Management

get the stomach to centralize your systems, instead of wasting money on band-aids, performance manage your employees, and eliminate waste and manual effort. You would make more money in the long run.

    Pros

The work being done was important and fulfilling.

    Cons

Management was terrible. There were a lot of people in supervisor positions that had no experience in government contracting. They made very poor decisions and that shows in the overall health of any of their contract divisions.

I worked at DynCorp International (More than a year)

    Pros

Steady work and descent pay, good shop environment in most locations.

    Cons

Management is horrible, to much favoritism. Upper management doesn't stand up for the workers. And to top it off they are hiring all Europeans, for the cheap labor.

    Advice to Management

Stop firing workers Fire management that is the problem, when the car doesn't drive straight, you check the driver before the wheels.

    Pros

Good pay...pay on time...well-recognized company brand (could be a CON in certain aspects as well)

    Cons

Recycle current employees over and over...many times outside/above their competency level...time with the organization weighs more heavily than expertise...not entirely accurate with all aspects of their contract (living conditions, length of contract, etc)...little-to-no advancement opportunities

    Advice to Management

Get new blood into BD areas and listen to the advice of "new" folks...you're losing long-duration contracts because you are stuck in your old ways!

Higher than average wages when compared to commercial equivalents. Good benefits - challenging work with opportunity to work on a variety of federal contracts throughout the world in demanding environments

    Cons

lots of turnover among executive management leading to a lack of sustained direction - always pressure to find the next big win in the federal sector and a revolving door of VPs which are typically cronies of whomever is at the top at any given moment
