    Pros

    -Most managers are knowledgeable.
-Company pays for your tests and licenses.
-Overtime work available to bolster your paycheck.
    -Good chance for advancement eventually.
    -Overall company is run well

    Cons

    Specifically Customer Service:
-Monotonous call center customer service work that will crush your soul; have to become a mindless drone to work here for longer than 6 months.
-Once you are a customer service employee you will never be able to move anywhere else in the company; other hiring managers will never consider you.
-Every minute of the day is tracked and measured; you are not an adult who is trusted to do their work, you are a shift worker with exact times given to you every day for breaks and a short lunch.
-You will be compared to your peers based on generating sales leads from existing customers; team managers will hound you endlessly about bugging existing customers to speak to salesmen.
-Training has gone downhill and become simply watching videos on a computer; your on the phone training will be done by helpers who are also less than knowledgeable so you will not be fully ready to start the job when you join a team.
-It's a job. It pays. If you are looking to make a difference, learn, or matter at all then this isn't for you. If you can handle the above and get paid doing it then go for it. There are definitely worse companies to do this work for.

    Pros

It's a really good company to work for. Opens new doors if you can pass the series 7 and 63. Lots of great perks and looks good on your resume.

    Cons

You have to pass the series 7 and 63 or you will be jobless. Most people don't pass. The training is not that good they rely on training software to teach you. Actual instructors teaching style is dry. One of them actually goes back on what he says and doesn't really seem you have the right answer. I just recently did training with another instructor at another company and it was totally different more reliable. The ones at etrade need to have more enthusiasm and have more in depth activities/worksheets to study off of. Don't just rely on Tina or why are you there in the first place.
The drive is far too. All the way in Alpharetta.

    Advice to Management

Have better instructor's that actually take initiative in helping students to pass.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The skills acquired in this position are great to have on your resume.

    Cons

Clients WILL berate you. Some clients are irrational. You have to be willing to be treated harshly on a daily basis. Your average talk time per customer must be below 8 minutes and you may feel frustrated when you can't reach your 8 minute goal.

    Advice to Management

Requirements to lower a representatives talk time can create poor customer experiences. It can cause for the representative to hurry the customer along and it can cause the representative to become frustrated. Clients may already be intimidated by trading and a representative hurrying through the call may not be beneficial to the client.

I have been working at E*TRADE Financial full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, and good pay. They understand the job is tough, and try to pay you to compensate. Great training, and benefits from Day one. Parental leave, with good 401k mathcing and HSA contributions by company.

    Cons

stressful job, answering calls all day. Unfortunately, the management disciplines through fear, and instead of trying to get to the root of the problem, you are presented with a verbal warning, then written warning, and termination. A fear based culture will never produce the best results, needless to say loyal employees.

    Advice to Management

If you want to decrease turnover, and improve the employee experience you need to stop worrying about your own job and put the needs of your team members before your own.

    Cons

Suspended Stock Plan Program for ETFC employees at low level
    Uncertainty of business environment
    Dated Technology

    Advice to Management

Give shares as a Morale boost instead of Jason's Deli Salami Sandwich. More job opportunities for overly qualified phone reps with MBAs.
