    Pros

The people are amazing, the work is rewarding, and the company genuinely cares about employees which comes from the top. Advancement opportunity is available for high potential talent.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be a challenge at times. Management has high expectations. The line between personal and professional is sometimes crossed making it difficult to have privacy outside of work (common for a family company).

    Pros

This is a company that truly cares for all of their employees. Corporate Values are not only stated, but followed.

    Cons

It can be somewhat difficult to fire low performers, but not impossible. The bar for documentation is where it should be to ensure fairness in the process.

    Advice to Management

Need to fully understand the impact of decisions that affect all of the workforce. Perhaps complete some round tables prior to large changes.

I have been working at E. & J. Gallo Winery full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Ability to move around the company whether it's different wineries or just different departments. Management support and guidance to achieve goals that you set with them. Work/Life balance is real. Management listens to results of climate assessments and does their best to make changes that are requested.

    Cons

Lean Six Sigma will sometimes add unnecessary complexity to everyday tasks.
Operations department has an obsession over measuring everything which has resulted in redundancy; the opposite of lean.

    I have been working at E. & J. Gallo Winery full-time

    Pros

This company is not only at the forefront of the alcohol beverage industry, but is also a leader in the consumer products space. As an employee, you take great pride in knowing you work for the best. They give you the resources you need to succeed in your role as well as your career. You have the opportunity to tackle many different jobs and they offer the mobility for you to find your calling within the Winery. When you join E&J Gallo, you truly feel like you're part of a family. I don't have many friends that feel that way about their employers.

    Cons

You have the ability to move up in the company, but the downside of that is relocation. However, once you advance to a certain point it becomes easier to remain in one city. The relocation mainly applies to positions outside of the headquarters in Modesto, CA anyway.
