I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time

    Pros

Interesting projects, Excellent equipment, good collaborations

    Cons

    work/life balance; sr. management

    Advice to Management

Try and run a company; stop focusing so much on getting the company to another faceless VC

I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked for ABC Labs as it got acquired by EAG so I speak for the Parma division of EAG. Incredible people, state of the art facility, best in class equipment and scientist. Perhaps the best E&L group in the industry. Forward thinking, not afraid to invest and effective operations.

    Cons

    Located in Columbia MO.
Perhaps dealing with capacity issues like every other lab out there.
    Identity change following acquisition.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward. Invest in your people and sky will be the limit!

I have been working at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible time off. Used to be better when we had comp time but we can't keep the hours we work anymore and salaried employees work long hours with no extra compensation.

    Cons

Long hours, no compensation for Salaried employees. No comp-time. 5 weeks vacation total for employees who manage to stay long enough.

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries for those who manage to stay for 10 years or more. Salaries for biologists are so low that many find better jobs elsewhere. Better salary increases, better morale.

I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked with some very nice people
Flexible hours helped me balance work, life, and school
Company has customers from many industries

    Cons

    Not much investment/room for growth
    Low pay
    Incompetent manager

    Advice to Management

Our team wanted to do a good job but budget constraints made us feel like our hands were tied.
New boss didn't know how to lead. He would micro-manage, and become hostile, defensive, and passive aggressive when confronted or when his decisions were questioned. We felt like his grunts and never felt assured that he would back us up. A couple of well-respected coworkers left because of him.

I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse opportunities in a scientific laboratory environment. Good place to learn about regulatory requirements and gain laboratory skills that can be used to further a career elsewhere.

    Cons

Unwilling to invest time and money into young talent. Fairly high turnover rate. Lack of raises and promotions leads to stagnation, and loss of employees.

    Advice to Management

Many people throughout EAG Columbia are underpaid and not recognized for their education, experience, or combination thereof. I feel that EAG Columbia capitalizes on the fact that this is one of the only CROs in the Midwest. Many of its employees are bound to the area due to family, and therefore are willing to accept a salary far below what they are worth. For those not willing to accept a noncompetitive salary, the company’s willingness to give a raise or promotion appears to only be offered on the cusp of the employee leaving. This does not portray EAG Columbia as a company that allows their employees to advance. I believe this is why EAG Columbia has, and will continue to have, increasingly higher turnover rates among young talent. They are being underpaid, have little commitment to the area, and believe that their careers would stagnate at a company so unwilling to invest in their employees.

I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Excellent laboratory experience. Leaders in the field of ecotoxicology research

    Cons

Management doesn't make it easy to do the work they tell you needs to get done (not enough supplies). Advancement options are extremely limited.

    Advice to Management

Stop holding onto employees who do barely the minimum amount of work to get by and hire some people who can handle the workload required of the job.

I worked at EAG Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, friendly coworkers, and that's about it.

    Cons

High level management is clueless! Before EAG bought out Wildlife International it was a wonderful company to work for and the employees were eager to please. I've never witnessed morale across so low across the board.
Now you are simply a number on a spreadsheet and the high level leaders don't have a clue. Outlook for this company is grim at best.

    Advice to Management

Too little too late I'm afraid.
