I worked at EAGLE Productivity Solutions (More than a year)

    Pros

Many really great people to work with. The Training department is world class, Live training well planned and targeted to the audience. Trainers receive excellent training and support.

    Cons

Production group is(was) a disaster. I agree 100% with all of the 18 reviews I have read. They usually hire highly talented middle managers and burn them out within a year. Yes, 60 hour weeks were common without so much as a thank you. They typically have 4-8 project managers at any given time, yet I personally know of at least 25 PMs who have come and gone over the past 4 years. That is a ridiculous turnover rate, and they (Eagle) only have themselves to blame. Most of these people were top-notch managers, and the company made it impossible for them to stay.

    Advice to Management

Bob is brilliant and has built a very successful company. I cannot fathom why he does not recognize or deal with the critical turnover problem. Treat your people with respect - deal with them fairly and with honesty. Recognize your failures (production group senior management, the Europe debacle) learn from them, and make the changes that will allow some form of continuity.

    Pros

People are nice to work with for the most part. The training department is pretty fun. At the end of project, hard work pays off

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Everyone points fingers at each other. The terminate full time employees every few months with no remorse

    Pros

Great niche in the market and some incredible people who work hard. There's teamwork in the trenches. Fear and abrasive interactions galvanize employees.

    Cons

Frequent, uncontrolled cycles of hiring and then layoffs; full-time employees sent packing without notice due to failure to plan and obsessive sales "practices". Old-school and outdated methods of prospecting and micro-managing include lying to clients and employees with professionally-accepted bullying and over-working. Minimum training for employees, cliques necessary for advancement and blind, Napoleonic leadership.

    Advice to Management

Connect the dots to find the root of your issues; dismiss the offensive parties and remake yourself on the backs of the people who can truly lead you. You have a great product to sell and great people to make it come true. Just because you sell and sign doesn't mean you've made profits and given your word. Work honestly, care for your employees and treat your clients with respect.

I have been working at EAGLE Productivity Solutions full-time

    Pros

    Co-workers are good people
    Your assignments will stretch you
    Eye-opening insight into pharmaceutical sales
Not one of those places where lots of people know how to do your job better than you

    Cons

Uneven management, if they even know what you do
    Too many fire drills
    Can be clique-y
No formal performance or salary review processes
If you don't have strong boundaries, they will take over your life and still expect more

    Advice to Management

Take time to understand what motivates people
Find a way to manage the highs and lows
    Additional/alternative career paths

    Pros

Friendly employees provide guidance. Left to work independently. Provide feedback when asked. Supportive and encouraging training program. Challenging work. Adequate equipment.

    Cons

Hiring done for many by contract on a per project basis. Unclear how likely it is that a contractor will be hired, regardless of work quality. Processes vary greatly from account to account.

    Advice to Management

    Upbeat, positive energy is encouraging.

I worked at EAGLE Productivity Solutions full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Liked training I received and people I worked with. Great chance to learn instructional design writing and how to deliver various deliverables. Good products. Treated like a grown-up and not micromanaged.

    Cons

Lots of down time when you have no client projects. Poor business management lead to a lot of layoffs all over the company. Disappointed that I couldn't complete my training and gain more experience. They're still working on trying to regulate the workflow so all employees have work and no one is overburdened. Trainers are in separate building, so creates an us vs. them mentality for the writers, which isn't healthy. Okay job if you prefer contract work.

    Advice to Management

They're doing a great job of training people to work for other companies instead of retaining employees. If they cut down on travel expenses, may be able to keep folks on salary.

    Pros

Collaborative energized environment. Growth is only limited by the individual. If you are willing to invest Eagle will become a second family. For the right individual it can provide tremendous experience in a a variety of disciplines.

    Cons

Professional growth tapers at management level due to size. If you are an individual that needs structure, guidance or predictability, Eagle is not for you. Still figuring out how to empower the newer middle management.

I worked at EAGLE Productivity Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The biggest pro is what the company is striving to be - successful, significant growth potential, etc. The people that actually do the grunt-work (managers and supervisors aside - no one knows what they do exactly) are the most wonderful and talented people you could hope to work with (they just won't be there for very long).

    Cons

What Eagle leadership says that the company values, is not reflected in actual practice. Contrary to what employees are told - creativity is not valued even when "encouraged" (it is stifled), as some of the other reviewers have mentioned there is little to no respect for work/life balance (unless you are in management), there is no clear path to promotion in the company. A lot of unnecessary chaos and confusion arose on virtually ever project I was a part of - it wasn't clear who to report to, management was usually in the dark as to the particulars of a given project (and were thus not able to act as guidance or a resource), many of the managers had less experience than the writers and developers tasked with actually delivering the work. Little or nothing in the way of valuable professional development.

    Advice to Management

The scorched earth policy with regards to employee turn-over can't go on forever. Even in this poor economy, sooner or later you will be scraping the very bottom. I have never worked in a place where more wonderful, enthusiastic, capable, and talented people are either over-worked and burned out, or simply discarded. Some thought might want to go in looking to live up to the promises of potential made to employees who dedicated massive amounts of time and stress to deliver on Eagle's promises to clients.
