I worked at EDC Consulting full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In my position, I received prompt support when needed from upper management while dealing with personnel issues. Additionally, while going through a difficult family time, the company was very flexible with PTO and teleworking. Overall a very solid firm with good support for the employee. Pay rate is very competitive.

    Cons

Not much communication on constructive feedback, more only input when sought.

    Advice to Management

More communication on areas of improvement for the individual contractor and those in leadership positions on the team would be beneficial.

I worked at EDC Consulting (More than a year)

    Pros

I found the people at EDC Consulting to be very kind and considerate of me as an employee. Really liked the Project Manager I was working with and enjoyed his technical expertise as well as his great personality. HR was really terrific and the on-boarding process is smooth and efficient. I'd go back there at any time if a new project became available. Great Benefits. Best I've ever gotten.

    Cons

As a smaller company they may not have the pipeline of projects that a bigger corporation would have. However, if you can live with 1 or 2 years ... depending on when you get on the contract, don't let it stop you from going there. It's all going to depend on the market and what skills are in demand.

I worked at EDC Consulting full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

EDC is a good small company. Innovative and supportive of employees. Always looking for new technologies to help grow their base of expertise.

    Cons

Working at a customer site, remote from the home office, I felt communications with our location could have been better.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the remote locations. Visit them more often and get feedback and input from them.

    Pros

EDC is a growing small business and a great place to work. Yes all companies have their issues and cannot make everyone happy all of the time. Great place to grow your career if you have drive. If you have the desire to grow yourself and a small company, then EDC is for you.

    Cons

Nothing that other companies do not experience as well

    Advice to Management

Continue to look out for the employees and grow the company even larger.

    Pros

    Nice office space

    Cons

High-pressure environment made worse because of wrong personnel in functional roles replaced too late to make a difference.

    Advice to Management

    Ensure correct personnel are retained

    Pros

The “E-D-C” in EDC Consulting stands for “esprit de corps”. This is the motto of the Marine Corps and roughly translated means “a feeling of pride, fellowship, and common loyalty shared by the members of a particular group.”

EDC is a Small Business and while you hear it a lot it, it is true that EDC does have a “family” feel that makes for a good work environment. The owners of the company have fostered an environment that promotes team spirit as well as recognition of the individual.

The company-sponsored social events and off-sites make for a good work balance.

In short, the whole atmosphere of “esprit de corps” permeates the company and that feeling made it easy to want to go to work each day.

    Cons

    PTO policy could be improved.

I worked at EDC Consulting full-time

    Pros

Great company to work for. They expect and demand professional people who are self-motivated and hard working (which I view as a Pro). Task oriented allowing team members to utilize their industry experience and expertise rather than micro-managing from the top down. Facility in McLean is beautiful. Senior Management is approachable and courteous. Salary for position descriptions are competitive. Would be glad to accept a position again in the future.

    Cons

Additional responsibilities were added post-hire as project teams shifted, often without consideration for compensation. Not a significant issue but something to be considered when agreeing to a position as described.
