I have been working at EF Education First full-time

    Pros

Lots of benefits to working at EF: great training program for entry-level staff; responsibility and ownership right away and throughout your career; fast, flat and flexible work environment; passionate, committed and fun people in a beautiful work environment; great mission focused on the importance of global education; and fantastic travel opportunities around the world.

    Cons

For people needing very specific job descriptions and ongoing close guidance and management, this may not be the right environment.

    Advice to Management

Please keep the communication and transparency going - all staff like to know what's going on and why so they feel a part of the greater strategy.

I have been working at EF Education First full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

EF is a unique company where hard work, grit and killer instinct meets fun, friendship and passion. Having worked for other organizations, it is apparent that EF truly attracts top talent. EF's work environment is energetic, international and collaborative. A truly innovative company with unbelievable travel opportunities. Also being someone who never knew exactly "what I wanted to be when I grew up", EF highlights peoples' strengths and puts people in the "right seat" so that they can shine!

    Cons

Many of the positions at EF give employees at all levels a lot of responsibility and ownership over either your team or projects which is a great thing. However, sometimes there are limited resources available which can lead to an imbalance in work/life. EF people are committed to the success of the both the business and their team. Even though there may be a lot of time spent working, EF does make sure that it is fun and with the best people.

I have been working at EF Education First full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Great company culture/fun place to work -Opportunities for career advancement both vertically and laterally -International travel opportunities -Genuinely helping educational efforts in a myriad of ways worldwide

    Cons

-Salary is not as competitive for similar roles within other organizations -Several divisions of the company yet they don't often get to work together -Communication between varying divisions is difficult to facilitate especially in other continents

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better. You say your salaries are competitive in the marketing efforts but in actuality they really aren't, especially within the Asian markets.

I worked at EF Education First full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

EF is a great place to kick off your career, as a young 20 something. It's a fun, young environment - your coworkers will become your best friends! Beautiful building, work hard play hard environment, and travel opportunities for those who work in tours products. You work with smart, entrepreneurial people who really care about making a different and putting 110% into their work. The jobs are fairly demanding, so you will gain a lot of skills in just a few short years - sink or swim environment.

    Cons

This company has a very flat corporate structure, which is nice in some ways but not when you are really trying to grow and advance. Often times you feel as though management is trying to keep you in a role when you are really ready to grow and advance - this leads to many people quitting after year 2 or 3, once they don't see the middle management opportunities accessible to them. Pay is not competitive whatsoever - and VERY low. After awhile the perks don't make up for the lack in salary, unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

RETENTION! If you want to see your star employees stay, and build a company that is less like a call center and more like a family, start listening to your employees when they want growth opportunities. Don't treat this as a negative, but see this as a positive - your employees want to stay at EF and want to better themselves/the company. If you don't give them that opportunity to challenge themselves, they will leave. Look at yourselves as mentors to your staff, and less like a rule-enforcer.
