I worked at EFI (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many great colleagues there; nice onsite food service, facility was great for walks at lunch, and close to many good restaurants.

    Cons

Employee affirmation was stilted and insincere most of the time. Employee benefits were just enough to be competitive, but never conveyed any particular commitment on the part of management. Management confused cutting excess with cutting essentials, causing multiple employees to leave as soon as they could to avoid burnout.

    Advice to Management

Valuing your employees more would benefit you, and the company, as well as the employees. There's a difference between cutting fat and cutting muscle and bone; you need to learn the difference.

    Pros

Great company, great work environment, pay is high, benefits are great, work experience and career growth

    Cons

They do lay offs normally every 3-5 years and unfortunately if you are at the bottom, or a newly hire, you may get the boot.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off people who work hard and lay off the people that take advantage of expense reports

I have been working at EFI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting works if you are in the right group. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Promotion is not transparent. Process especially fixing bugs is tedious as company tries to save money by moving supports to India. Not much monetary incentive to speak of, no stock grant, bonus or profit sharing is in name only, yearly salary increase is not even keeping up with inflation.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your good performers. Find out why bugs take a long time to fix, i.e talk to individual contributors that actually fix them, not managers or VP as they will tell stories that you want to hear. With bugs in queue, individual contributors don't have time to develop the next great thing that benefits the company in the long run.

I worked at EFI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good colleagues and flexible work environment. Global opportunities and possibility to work with complex problems across teams and time zones.

    Cons

Can be a bit out of touch with market rate salary in some locations and need to have a better focus on streamlining and making products and processes more lean to reap the benefits of the portfolios.

    Advice to Management

Engage the employees more and build trust with them to generate more willingness to perform better and more productive for the company. Set realistic goals so that you don't tire your workforce by only setting stretched goals.
