I have been working at EFI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting works if you are in the right group. Good work life balance.

    Cons

Promotion is not transparent. Process especially fixing bugs is tedious as company tries to save money by moving supports to India. Not much monetary incentive to speak of, no stock grant, bonus or profit sharing is in name only, yearly salary increase is not even keeping up with inflation.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your good performers. Find out why bugs take a long time to fix, i.e talk to individual contributors that actually fix them, not managers or VP as they will tell stories that you want to hear. With bugs in queue, individual contributors don't have time to develop the next great thing that benefits the company in the long run.

I worked at EFI full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    -Worked with some good people

    Cons

-Office was in the middle of nowhere. There were no good restaurants close by.
-No career mobility. Even though you do as you're asked and show personal and career growth, there's no promotions.
-If they still do peer reviews, they are a waste of time. Some people chose friends to review them rather than internal business contacts to review their work. This leads to inflated review scores. The honest people get screwed over and probably leads to the wrong people getting promoted due to incorrect reviews
-Salary increases workers got were a joke, if we got any at all.
-Low salaries = poor engineers. You get what you paid for. If you want good engineers making your product, you need to pay and compete for them
-Products with known showstopper bugs are still shipped because some VP signed off on it. The reason was because we had a schedule to keep and even though it was half baked, shove it out the door. No one cared what our reputation was, nor about people having a good user experience with our product.

    Advice to Management

Listen to suggestions people give you. There were some good ideas but for some reason ignored by upper management. Nothing changed and we kept the status quo, and thus the company is still below average.

I worked at EFI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good colleagues and flexible work environment. Global opportunities and possibility to work with complex problems across teams and time zones.

    Cons

Can be a bit out of touch with market rate salary in some locations and need to have a better focus on streamlining and making products and processes more lean to reap the benefits of the portfolios.

    Advice to Management

Engage the employees more and build trust with them to generate more willingness to perform better and more productive for the company. Set realistic goals so that you don't tire your workforce by only setting stretched goals.
