    Pros

Lots of hard working people with the same goals. Producing products with the highest quality and best customer experience.

    Cons

Expectations are greater than some can deliver. Knowing your employee's strengths and weaknesses and working with them is very important as a manager. This is not often known around the EFI Management.

    Advice to Management

Don't contradict each other or self. It leads to trust issues.

    Pros

Good work / life balance. Managers don't micromanage and are positive for self initiative.

    Cons

Disorganized management and HR. Management doesn't recognize accomplishments. Don't promote from within. A good old boy's club. Upper management is very well rewarded - in 2008-2010 while the whole company got a 5% reduction, executives got millions in stock grants. Management rates folks company wide for bonuses when things are going well but criticizes sub-groups when not. Mass migration of labor to India. The Fiery group gets preferential treatment despite many poor quarters. Company has regular layoffs which tend to be political and which has created a long term climate of paranoia and turf behavior. Company focuses primarily on new business and short shrifts existing customers. Most growth is through acquisitions which is symptomatic of a shrinking print industry. Outside of the Ink Jet group, not a great place to grow your career.

    Pros

Met some great people from all different backgrounds

    Cons

Terrible management and stressed out employees

    Advice to Management

Work on employee development and career path. Employees are what make a good company great and they should be happy in their work environment. HR was non responsive to several issues that took place the time I was there. They sat while things got worse and did not take action.

    I worked at EFI full-time

    Pros

Innovative digital printing presses and ink, flexible hours. Assorted versions of presses on site to design, test, and develop on. Ink development labs on site.

    Cons

Ink manufacturing in the same building as engineering. Management turnover with reorganization. Very little career advancement opportunity. Too many instances where co-workers setup other coworkers to fail in order to hide difficulty their experiencing and move the delay in delivery timeline off to another individual or group.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the internal sabatours. Beware of nay sayers as to their motivation. Those who say something 'negative' because it's based in reality, want to address the issues, move forward, support the making of a better product and speak publicly versus the non-public, it's not going to work, because I don't understand it, it's too difficult for me to do, I can't be wrong, where an individual's personal limits, insecurity, and inflexible prevent team organizational change and growth.

There are far too many in the lowest engineering through mid management level where interest of the 'I' is the most important.

I have been working at EFI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Sets goals & shares with employees on quarterly basis for growth & profitability.
-Flexibility available when one needs to work from home as needed (personal issues or winter storms).
-Salary and Benefits seem to be higher than most companies in the state.
-Has an active and mobile safety committee committed to employee safety.
-Currently is very busy and has employees wearing many "hats" so there is a perception of job security.
-Very aggressive in the desire to grow profit through growth and acquisitions.
-Recognizes 3-4 qualified employees per quarter from across the entire company with an MVP type award.

    Cons

-The aggressive desire to grow profit through growth and acquisitions is NOT matched with enough labor force nor time to effectuate the overly zealous build plans quarter to quarter. Burn out and discontent should be expected if things continue as they are.
-Changes are often frequent, incomplete and implemented in way UNDER lead time and without adequate testing.
-Time and financial waste as a result of the ECO process is not adequately measured and tracked for reduction as a way to enforce accountability and efficiency among stakeholders.
-Employee surveys are advertised as "anonymous" but if the department you work in is small enough, they really aren't. There is pressure to complete these surveys with no guarantee the a properly conveyed contribution to improvement by a respondent will get adequate review.
-Blaming/shaming is a standard operating procedure on a DAILY basis- oftentimes, this is done in open-air meetings.
-Under these conditions (listed above), employees are strongly admonished to keep a "positive" outlook and attitude and any inkling of discontent is met with sharp criticism and the "victim" label. This is not conducive to building morale and encouraging a more active and positive employee engagement.

    Advice to Management

    -What you do great:
Allowing for ways for a better work-life balance for some employees (probably more for the salaried individuals than hourly). A great benefits package is offered.
-What you need to hear and then do something about:
Get your feet back on the ground and your collective heads out of the clouds and truly evaluate what can REALLY be done vs what is desired in the build plan. STOP with the shame/blame procedures. It's demoralizing and will not go anywhere in retaining talented employees.
-Grow the business without trodding your own employee base under foot.

I have been working at EFI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good location. Good people. Flexible hours

    Cons

Upper management doesn't understand what most departments do and what they need to do their jobs. Favoritism runs rampant. From the facilities (it is apparent the "main" building where all the executives reside had about 80% of the "perks" budget while the "other" building has little to none of the amenities or "fancy" decor. All the rewards and recognition goes to one or two groups primarily and the contributions of many departments including operationsand finance, etc are rarely if ever part of the "giveaways" Also Vutek seems to not have to play by the same rules as a favored branch.

    Advice to Management

Every employee is working hard and adds value. Try recognizing someone other than quality or people who kiss up to management.

    Pros

The people are wonderful. Flexible schedule. Good benefits.

    Cons

Time and again management fails to deliver, even on the simple things. Many directors are promoted because of years of service, rather than possessing the necessary skills to perform the job duties. Support resources, such as Human Resources is spotty at best. Many HR business partners do not possess the necessary skills to intervene with product line directors/GMs to ensure the big picture employee relations are handled well. This is true at all levels of the HR organization.

    Advice to Management

You could do some very simple things to influence employee satisfaction including ensuring that the same rules are applied across the organization to ensure that some employees are not favored more than others.
