I have been working at EFI full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Smart people from many different engineering disciplines all working together to bring innovative technologies to market, set in a beautiful location.

    Cons

Some of the facilities are old and run-down looking. Priorities are constantly changing. Difficult to lure top-quality engineers to this location.

Thank you for taking the time to review your time at EFI. It sounds like you enjoyed the flexible schedule, and many of our employees do as well. We are sorry to hear that you felt we were moving our jobs offshore to India. While we do have an impressive development team abroad, ...

I worked at EFI full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

When I was there they had a nice building in Foster City overlooking the bay, not anymore. The company has moved its headquarters to Fremont.

    Cons

The company has existed for a long time, the code base is old and not too much new development is going on. Instead, it's they follow the principle, if it works don't touch it. And sure it does work, but that is not the question, the question is how well? Most people do bug fixes. Only maybe 10% of engineers do actual development. So, if you're young and you're smart (I don't mean you're a genius, I mean you're a... capable engineer who can get the job done and you are good with basic algorithms so you can prepare for interviews) and you feel like you're not challenged enough, then GET OUT OF THIS PLACE. There are plenty of companies that pay at least 30-40% more than EFI does. And you'll get to learn new technologies and work with a lot of smart people. If you talk to others within the company you'll get the feeling that they feel the same way, at the same time they don't want to do anything about it... Do not be like them. Go out and try and change and it'll most likely be good.

Ouch. :-( We’ve been in Fremont for three years now, your feedback might be a bit dated, but our facility in Fremont is state-of-the-art and facilitates great collaboration among our employees, which is exciting. We have also since redone a lot of our product with modern tech and ...

    Pros

Benefits are great, this is only one pros to work at EFI.

    Cons

Once you join the company, you will never get a raise. Manager will always come up with or other excuses. And If you come under bad manager, you can see lots of racial discrimination. They will make you work day and night and still do not appreciate your hard work. There is No work life balance and upper management doesn't truly listen to their people at all. I would not recommended this company a good place... to work.

I have been working at EFI

    Pros

Great location, what is left of it. Very nice view. Free coffee: you’ll need it! Practically everybody is very friendly and open.

    Cons

EFI is an excellent illustration of Peter’s principle (read the book, it is short!). Uncreative engineering management considering employees as expenses. They kill entrepreneurship and milk the Fiery division cow to its death. The CEO no longer pretends that EFI hires and keeps only the best. We are just expendable.

    Advice to Management

Go take MBA classes. Most high management has very little credibility. They can speak about Fiery products but can barely use them. It is not their job? Right, they are not Steve Jobs! For years, this management has only focused on reports about shipped products and bug counts, their objective measure for success. Who is responsible for long term underperforming stock and dead passion? If you do not give your... employees performance reviews, if you ignore their needs, aspirations and feedback, just blame yourselves for the employee exodus. How can we trust people who keep breaking our employment contract?

I have been working at EFI

    Pros

great talent, relaxed work environment, good location in Silicon Valley

    Cons

Employees should suck up to the boss, hard work is rarely recognized, employees who work are treated like work horses, management keeps saying that it's greatful to have a job in this economy even though the market is picking up and everyone is leaving EFI...unexperienced employees get promoted just because they are good buddies of upper management...

    Advice to Management

Get rid of Guy Gecht, time to get new CEO and also get rid of CEO's buddies all they do is jog during office hours and nothing...

    I worked at EFI

    Pros

A working technology that has a good customer base all over the world. Smart peers, and good facilities at work.

    Cons

Room for growth is limited because the technology has somewhat saturated. New avenues to expand the company are being thought of a lot, but other than an acquisition recently there is nothing much to show as new stuff.

    Advice to Management

You have to stimulate and energize the engineers. Create more room for career growth in the company. Allow workers to transition between departments more easily so that there will be new areas to work in.
