I have been working at EH Publishing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A congenial environment that values experience and teamwork. Engaged with cutting-edge technologies and markets.

    Cons

Not everyone understands an online-first publishing model, and the sales and editorial teams and business divisions could work more closely together.

    Advice to Management

Work more with rank-and-file employees to make the best use of non-sales practices and technologies.

I have been working at EH Publishing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great group of people who genuinely try to help each other and advance the company. Casual work environment, very family-friendly. A publishing business that is focused on a number of niches that are growing - a nice combination to see. It's always more fun to work in a business that is growing.

    Cons

It's an old-style business which has its pros and cons. Executives are working hard to embrace a digital world but the day-to-day pace is slow relative to younger companies. There is some reluctance to try new things and the culture does not quickly embrace change.

    Advice to Management

Balancing the pros of a welcoming, family-friendly environment while also kicking it up a notch to compete in the 21st Century is a challenge but also possible. Great direction with new digital strategies.

    Pros

The industry of consumer electronics, home tech and integrated electronics is growing quickly. Publishing jobs are hard to come by.

    Cons

If there is an opening above you, you can pretty much count on an outsider being brought in at a high rate of pay. The hiring executives don't know who works in the company, what they do or what their qualifications are. So, when you apply for what would be a promotion, the hiring executives feel more confident going with their outside cronies who they overpay to do the things you've been doing all along.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within. Give more than the 2 percent to 5 percent annual increase. Give me some incentive to stay. My resume is always out.

I have been working at EH Publishing full-time

    Pros

    People are great, no jerks
    You can really develop relationships
    Generous PTO and benefits
Lots of opportunity to self-manage and be creative

    Cons

Upper management is stuck in a 90s work era mentality
Not a lot going on in terms of culture

    Advice to Management

Investing a little more at the bottom goes a long way at the top. Penny pinching is terrible for growth.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at EH Publishing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

EH Pub has been growing since day 1.
Since our inception, we have grown from 2 people to 150 people... 1 magazine to approx 15 media brands & several events.
Incredibly supportive senior management & inspiring CEO.

    Cons

It would be great to have a few more holidays and a little bit more PTO, but it's definitely a good balance.

    Advice to Management

The work from home policy could be a little more lenient, otherwise A+.
