I worked at EMC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many tremendous associates at the individual-contributor level. Solid benefits. Opportunities across multiple lines of business

    Cons

Salary lags the industry by a lot. Bias against remote and field-office workers. Bloated mid-level management. Continually poor BU-level senior management. Strategic plan often sacrificed to make the quarterly numbers. Bloodbath as people now fight to stay on to the close of the Dell deal and have their options vest.

    Advice to Management

Too much talk about movement to a solutions orientation. The culture is too geared toward selling storage boxes only. Stop trying to build new storage hardware and create true cross-Federation solutions that are comp-neutral across VMware, Pivotal, RSA, and EMC.

I have been working at EMC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Access to great opportunities with top companies in every industry. You will also get to work with leading technology and great team members.

    Cons

You are on your own. Management sells so you'll need to make your own path in this organization but you will have the tools to do just that.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving forward with the work/life balance initiatives and continue to make EMC a great place to work.

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very fulfilling work on client engagements. Many long-term projects that provided stability. Excellent training opportunities.

    Cons

I worked for this company and a prior company that it bought for over 15 years. Was very dedicated and spent few periods of time in between projects. I was constantly extended on client engagements - then during a down-sizing, I was let go.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your employees better and their circumstances. In the last 6 months of employment I had 2 different managers and did not meet either in person, just 1 phone call and team meetings.

    Decent benefits.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be an issue at times.
    Low company 401k match.

    Advice to Management

Increase to 401k match cap would be a huge plus.

I worked at EMC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Company bought MTN and did not have time to work much with them.

I worked at EMC (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great educational services and great skill sets for an overall amazing resume. Awesome middle management as well.

    Cons

Dell acquisition made you just a number and no job stability unfortunately. Loved the company but unfortunately I was just a number when it came to workforce redistributions

    Advice to Management

Look at people not as a number but on how they perform. Why let go of skilled employees that have been consistently exceeding and been with the company for over a decade?

I worked at EMC (More than a year)

    Pros

Awesome company to work for. Opportunities are limitless. Support from management is strong. Work is diverse and challenging and rewarding.

    Cons

No real cons that I can see. At times may feel like company is too large if you are looking for information but it's all out there and fairly well organized you just need to continue your search for it.
