I have been working at EMC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

People respect each other. I work on a project that is fairly large and has about 200 people approximately. There is pressure, but what I love about the team is the respect with which people treat each other. To me that is a very important aspect

    Cons

    I couldn't find one yet.

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, Team work ,

    Cons

With the large debt Dell took on to buy EMC, Dell is cutting senior people by laying off experienced/higher salaried employees to try and pay down almost 50 billion in debt.

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great technical people
    Great Benefits.
    Very Interesting work.

    Cons

Upper management at times lacked the vision.
Over use of acquisition over innovating internally.
getting ahead comes at a significant work/life imbalance.

    Advice to Management

The company has made great acquisitions, such as VMware, DG, RSA, Isilon, just to name a few, but this came at a cost of not having any vision or patience to execute on internal innovations. In the early 2000, EMC was the number one company in storage, owned VMware, and had most of the plumbing for cloud computing ( were at least three years ahead of any competitors) and when Amazon, Google and Microsoft were not even operating in this space. EMC failed to amount to much in cloud computing, This was definitely a failure of vision by upper management. What really kept the company relatively healthy is the layers of Director and below, who were really great and who often had to clean up the mess of upper management and execute on the often painful integration of acquired technologies. Having said that, I was at EMC for about 13 years or so, and I consider the overall experience to be very positive. Worked on interesting project along with great people, and have learned alot.

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very flexible schedule, great benefits, helpful co workers, generous maternity leave, work from home / telecommute capability, above average pay scale / salary

    Cons

Long hours during end of quarter, often working past midnight. End of quarter also falls during Christmas and New Years, with no time off allowed during this time.

    Advice to Management

None. Management was laid back, knowledgeable and helpful. They were flexible with scheduled and work from home when needed.

    I worked at EMC full-time

    Pros

Not one that I can think of.

    Cons

Micromanagement abounds. Consequently very political with long hours and less pay than other companies. Because of Dell, layoffs are rampant and keeping everyone on edge.

    Advice to Management

No vision and has lost competitive edge. Make a decision and restructure then rebuild.
