I have been working at EMC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Senior management generally seems to care about employees. Great benefits and good pay. Raises are a concern, but that may feed back to the comment about line managers being very clichee and "picking favorites" above talent.

    Cons

The initial lead up to the Dell merger was easy and seemed to lack direction. Layoffs caused a huge talent drain that has yet to be corrected

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to ensure that the cliches that the line managers develop don't occur. Being talented and good at what you do should be the gauge of your worth, not who's favorite.

    Pros

Solid and stable leader in the enterprise content management industry with full financial backing yet entrepreneurial in spirit.

    Cons

Market share stagnant and key market players and investors were pushing to spin off divisions to increase company and market share value. This caused much upheaval and lack of confidence and comfort for most employees.

    Advice to Management

Software division of company has now been spun out to a key competitor located in Canada.

    Pros

Work life balance, great benefits , competitive salary. Some of the great people to work with. I enjoyed my time there.

    Cons

There is a lot of changes in the organization due to constant change. The change comes from experimentation than the experience. I wish the changes were from experience...

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great support and resources availble in both EMEA and the US. Good cross over assistance between different departments e.g. Sales and Tech Support.

    Cons

There is not great scope to move within the Company beyond Sales and Management. Not many employees move into the Tech support side of things and perhaps this should be encoraged move with the introduction of optional training courses made available.

    Advice to Management

Not many employees move into the Tech support side of things and perhaps this should be encoraged move with the introduction of optional training courses made available.
