    Pros

    Fast paced environment. Company has a Great CEO - many campuses are conveniently on same road.

    Cons

    Head of Talent has weak fellowship and zero respect. Horrible leadership style, often said you have to leave to get more money here "like I did". - That's inspiring. Constant turnover in co. Does not value talent.

    Pros

    Great Technology! Always trying to push the mark. Typically you will have to lean on other coworkers to be successful, so find out those that are realiable first. As there are few reliable ones, such as ones that will actually help even if it is outside their job scope.

    Cons

    Leadership is always confused. If you expect little to no guidance from management, this is perfect for you. Management does little to no communication. But they love to hypothesize on how the market is going, but have no real data or experience to back that up. There is a lot of dead weight, where few workers have to pick up the heavy load. Unfortunately the dead weight is considered protected employees (circle of trust)

    Advice to Management

    Communicate, actually focus on helping your employees be successful, instead of being caught up on marketing hype or trying to stay in the "friends circle of trust" amongst other management.

    I have been working at EMC as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The pay is decent and working in Utah is not bad. The parking lot is never full.

    Cons

    The work I do is incredibly tedious and boring. Everything you do at EMC is proprietary, so good luck finding some other employer who needs the skills you have. Also, they push the "diversity and inclusion" so much that they end up excluding some, such as me. I do not feel comfortable in the cultural environment, and will be looking for something else by the end of the year.

    Advice to Management

    If you want to be "diverse and inclusive" then walk the walk, not just spout rhetoric. My point is that those who do not just believe popular opinion also have a place in the work environment, and our voices are just as valid as any other. Also, start caring a little more about your employees.

    Pros

    West Coast products and leadership team is pretty solid. EMC has a great track record of buying new technology and markets. 90%+ of new revenue growth the past 10 years via acquisition. Awesome sales team.

    Cons

    AWS and the shift to cloud services are eating EMC for lunch. Hiring practices are dominated by friends, poker buddies, and relatives of established executives on the east coast. Not a culture tolerant to diversity.

    Advice to Management

    Grow a pair! Voices that are different from your own should not be something to fear, but something to understand. Diversity is a good thing.

    Pros

    It was a job, definately not a career.

    Cons

    * Management is out of Utah and manages based on their "beliefs"
    * Preference is given to those of that "belief"
    * No telecommuting allowed
    * Not provided a laptop, only an office desktop
    * Work in a fishbowl. People stare at you while you work
    * 12 hour shifts
    * Work every holiday

    Advice to Management

    Get religion out of the office

    I have been working at EMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The benefits here are pretty good and the working from home part is great.

    Cons

    Management is constantly fighting with each other and are pretty clueless about what they are doing. Speaking of silos, this is one of those places you'll see it all over the place! My direct manager is unsupportive and selfish and their managers don't care what they do. The only time they want to talk to you is when they need something from you or if they got in trouble for not meeting their expectations and that in turn dribbles down to ... YOU of course! Terrible communication within the company.

    This company is basically a good ol boys club. As a female, I've endured much sexual tension from more senior employees-even if they are married. Pay for females are also a cut below the males in the company. My advice--ladies/minorities: go where you are wanted and not treated like a piece of meat.

    Advice to Management

    You need to stop worrying about just your raises and retirement fund (I.e. Joe Tucci-is getting an awesome retirement fund from his deal with dell. But everyone else? Lower and middle class workers are getting laid off. For what? So the budget looks better to dell)

    Pros

    Big company atmosphere so variety of people to associate with.

    Cons

    Poor visionless management, lack of useful communication, fear-based culture limits information sharing, age-discriminating managers given free reign to pollute and distract from an already-lacking mission statement.

    Advice to Management

    Get acquired since your stock will never go over 30/share otherwise.

    Good benefits.

    Cons

    Bad decision making. EMC Dell deal is in the news.
    Bad culture. Only the ones who know to speak to upper management succeed even after they affect the other people who made them reach there.

    I worked at EMC (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Competitive income and benefits packages

    Cons

    Culture is not ideal. The management micromanages the teams, drives transactional business regardless of delivering value to the customer, and berates sales team in front of their peers regardless of whether they are performing well or not. Poor on-boarding and off-boarding process. Lack of accountability by supporting resources - everyone seems to pass the buck.

    Advice to Management

    Management needs to learn to understand their team's strengths and weakness and how to motivate them to succeed.
