    Pros

Great People and Environment. Wealth of Information

    Cons

Stuck as Contractor for 2 years, no benefits, no PTO, no Sick time. Never take a Contract Job with EMC.

Even with being able to access so much information, if you think outside the box and do it wrong. Your @ss is Grass.

Have moved through 6 different projects, Un-able to move up to more technical role, not from lack of trying.

    Advice to Management

It has all been said before in other reviews.

    Pros

Offered education reimbursement and professional development

    Cons

company would rather let go of key people rather then move them to the appropriate business segment.

    Way too many managers.

    Advice to Management

Get ride of half the "managers" that dont really need to be there and focus more on people who are looking to develop!

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company overall with good executive team and corporate strategy. Strong product portfolio. The pay and benefits are ok but raises and promotions are hard to come by unless you leave then come back.

    Cons

If you're not part of the right club it doesn't seem to matter how hard you work or what you accomplish. Laziness, back stabbing, excessive drinking, and stupidity rewarded over trying to do the right thing for customer.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your people fairly. Don't talk about being ethical and do the opposite. Recognize and reward hard work, sacrifice, and ability over incompetent people who play the office politics game well.

I have been working at EMC full-time

    Pros

    - As much work life balance as you would like (sometimes too much)
    - Flexible work from home culture

    Cons

    - Definitely feels like a company from ancient times. A lack of overall energy and lots of (even smart) people who are just checked out/too comfortable
    - Decisions are extremely top heavy. While leadership pretends to encourage collaboration, most big decisions come as surprises
    - A distinct lack of diversity in leadership roles
Overall a great place to work if you want a good work life balance and interesting work- but not if you are young, hungry, and looking to make an impact

    Advice to Management

Implement more of an open door policy, not just the once a quarter pretend feedback sessions, more transparent communication, and allow more autonomy

I have been working at EMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Good learning opportunities.

    Cons

No mobility or growth in terms of career. Management is terrible - bad or no planning at all, badly organized, teams do not work well together. Lot of internal politics and favoritism. Far more management staff than I have seen elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Reward your best employees. Help employees grow. Invest in their career and they will reward you back. Listen to your people at the grassroots.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at EMC (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is very flexible with their employees and provides great benefits to all of their employees who have an EMC badge

    Cons

Most employees are contractors. In an entry level position at EMC there is very little room to grow with the company. After being in the position for 3 years the work is very monotonous with very few opportunities to challenge yourself.

    Advice to Management

Provide an opportunity for employees to push themselves and develop into better employees.
