I worked at EMC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Young group on the sales team, all newly graduated. Lots of team efforts and fun after work and on the weekends.

    Cons

Not only is this product completely dying... They sell you on the fact that you can be making 100k in the first year. Sure that happened to one person out of 40,000. This is the worst place to work. You are 1 in 40,000, management chooses favorites the first week and will push out anyone who ins't a favorite or a term often used, "willing to drink the juice." Expect random pull ins for technology presentations in front of multiple managers, and then asked to do it again. first month you are expected to do a presentation comparing EMC to an inanimate object in front of 200 people. If you do not do everything with a smile on your face you are gone. They brain wash you.

    Advice to Management

Management should be outsourced. By hiring managers internally, there is a biased opinion in just about every matter.

I have been working at EMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Nice co-workers and friendly people around.
    - Flexible hours

    Cons

    - Laid off lots of good employees because of their works will be outsourcing to China, India.
    - Lots of talents quitting their job. I saw the 'good bye' email every weeks.
    - Be careful what position you are going to work for. I saw lots of QA got laid off and leave the office right-away in one day without notice.
    - Politic every where in the company.
    - Unclear direction.

    Advice to Management

    - Listen to the employees instead of listening to other management.
    - Be fair and not being biased.

I have been working at EMC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Big company - lots of 'avenues' for mobility.

    Cons

Poor compensation, outdated benefits, rampant nepotism, no appreciation for hard work and dedication for employees. Competitive atmosphere, driven purely by MBOs. Dinosaur business model.

    Advice to Management

Innovate, or die. Stop looking for ways to pad your own numbers, and find ways to prepare for tomorrow and secure a strong workforce. The last decade has been a poor job market, so you could get away with treating people like crap - the economy is stabilizing again, and the workforce is getting competitive once more. Wake up, and start treating your people better.

I worked at EMC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

EMC is a sales machine. Great company to get trained on navigating sales campaigns both internally (within EMC) and externally. Learned how to destroy the competition even if the tech is better than EMC.

    Cons

If you not from the East Coast Southie Boston club, you are on the inside looking out. EMC is a culture that feeds on intimidation and the locker room jock (boys only) mentality.

    Advice to Management

Hire women..Hire more women. Hire a female EVP of Sales.
