    Pros

There are multiple practice areas within Ramboll-Environ, many of which are successful. This review pertains to the Industrial wastewater practice only.

    Cons

The industrial wastewater practice based in Nashville is an unmitigated disaster. The business has been in a steady decline for about 10 years.

    Advice to Management

The business model is broken. Many of your industrial clients are not spending capital for over 10 years - let alone spending it on wastewater or utilities. This practice area continues to market 'design-build' solutions in spite of the funding for such projects drying up nearly a decade ago. There are opportunities to work as a consultant - especially with cash-strapped facilities that are outsourcing their wastewater plants under a lease or O&M contract due to capital constraints. There is an opportunity to provide consulting services to develop a design basis and oversee the execution of the project as a technical expert. Smaller firms and independent contractors have figured this out and latched on to multi-year annuities for this service. If you do not figure out how to generate revenue growth, you won't have this office in another 3-5 years.

    Pros

    Awesome coworkers
    Interesting projects
    Fun working environment
The sky is the limit on your potential growth
    Good compensation

    Cons

I can't really think of any. Like any consulting firm, they have billability goals, but they are more flexible with those than other firms.

    Advice to Management

Please continue with what you are doing. Continue to hire helpful, friendly, bright staff. Continue to focus on keeping employees happy.

    Pros

    Encouraging leadership. Respectful work environment.

    Cons

I really don't have anything negative to say about this work experience other than at the time there was just not enough work available to transition into a full time position.

I worked at ENVIRON (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits were nice, occasional travel to other offices, and an extremely solid company. Start ups are fun, but not something to base a career on. Environ is going to be around for a long time.

    Cons

There was a distinct lack of communication in the company.

    Pros

Flat management. Great company culture. Hands-on training is fantastic. Colleagues are willing to take the time to sit down with you to work through any problem. As an intern, I got to work on a variety of exciting projects and was given the same responsibility as a long-term employee.

    Cons

Work environment sometimes can be a little isolated when everyone works independently in their own cubicle.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at ENVIRON full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Offers opportunity to learn technical and transferable skills. Benefits are good - no copay, offers both sick and vacation banks, competitively higher salaries.

    Cons

Lack of support/loyalty from managers on project conflicts and professional growth; unrealistic tight internal project deadlines; closed off work environment that deters ease of communication and camaraderie; employees stuck in skill-based groups (e.g., CAD, GIS), no compensation for extra hours spent, tough to transfer to other offices. Working at this company did not inspire lifelong commitment.

    Advice to Management

Recommend managers provide more realistic and immediate feedback for project work, develop a better mentorship program and allow for diverse opportunities.
