I worked at EPSRC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - High stipend money was given to me although I was an undergrad

    Cons

    - Funding not available to final year students

    Advice to Management

Fairly flexible work environment, however, goal-oriented

I have been working at EPSRC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really varied job with lots of travel and opportunities to speak to academics, industry leaders and policy makers. Really flexible working times and great benefits. If you take the job post-PhD, it opens up a whole world of research policy jobs afterwards.

    Cons

A lot of responsibility, considering the salary. Also, you either choose to live in Swindon or deal with a very expensive or stressful commute.

    Advice to Management

It is sometimes hard to find out the justification behind decisions at the top levels of senior management.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Fair pay for completing interesting research

    Cons

London PhDs receive stipend enhancement to account for high living costs. Oxford has equally high costs (at least) but does not qualify.

    Advice to Management

    Address the pay imbalance.
