    Advice to Management

    Advice to Management

Just because it looks good on paper doesn't always mean its working on the floor. Look at your floor employees and see what they think about production. Lots of great ideas floating around here if you would just listen.

I worked at ESCO Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    They have ok pay.
They have bonuses every month and have all the supplies you need.
They buy everyone lunch once a month

    Cons

    Raises are not very good.
    Management has favorites.
Ive worked with people that get fired for failing drug test and come back months later like nothing happened. Favorites can also make outside arrangements without batting a eye to management. While others will get fired rather fast if they do.
The air is pretty bad in the shop. Alot of the metals welded on contain hazardous material such as chromium.
    Long hours as well.
And lastly they have alot of safty issues . if you have a concern and want to change something like a tripping hazard from a air hose or safe guards on machines. It will only be addressed after someone gets hurt

    Advice to Management

No advice ive heard from 15 year employees that they dont listen and things hardly change

I worked at ESCO Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Not that many, actually none. The products are interesting although copied by many other companies and offered cheaper. The salary did pay most of the bills but did not make me rich.

    Cons

Bureaucratic and un-decisive upper management. Clear gender pay gap. Activity driven. We produced a lot of data, not much information and we could detect no management action based on the information delivered.

    Advice to Management

    Clean out the Esco lifers

I worked at ESCO Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There were some nice coworkers and people. Some of the projects were interesting.

    Cons

The senior management is using short term financial gain to direct the company. There is no long term thought to manage or grow the company. It is putting its eggs all in one basket which is a volatile market.
Most of the senior management was promoted from within with a not - invented - here attitude but what was developed at ESCO was not all that great.

    Advice to Management

Clear out the dead wood who are in senior management, get rid of those who got their degrees from "You Tube" university and bring in fresh blood with real and varied management experience.
Think long term growth, not short term financial gain / bean counting.

I worked at ESCO Corporation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This company had excellent wages and benefits. Everyone appreciated their job, and were very proud to be a part of the company.

    Cons

Sometimes the already long 12 hour shifts would run longer, and there were a couple of times that I didn't get a day off for a month.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the management would be to plan for the worst-case-scenario for fabrication jobs, and staff accordingly. This would reduce costly overtime and employee burnout.

I worked at ESCO Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Large company with good benefits and many engineers. The range of experience and history of the company are tied in with the city of Portland

    Cons

Company was unsure of its direction in the future while I worked there. It was difficult to see a future there while the company was trying to figure out their own.

    Advice to Management

Consistency, clarity, and respect are appreciated. Many times it seemed like management was hiding information from the engineers in an effort to keep the status quo
