I have been working at ESF Camps part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The campers have fun. The staff when held on to are great.

    Cons

Management. A corporate structure that is so tight it's ridiculous. Upper management doesn't know what half their sites are really doing. Pay is abysmal, appreciation is slim to none. The idea that you can climb the pipeline within the company is a joke. Lots of extras that aren't in the contract. Treat people who educators and directors on their staff for 5 plus years like someone with no experience. You're just a cog in the wheel to mgmt. it's supposed to be camp!

I have been working at ESF Camps part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is by far the best institution that I have been involved with that involves children. I am going on my 5th summer with ESF and can't be more excited. ESF does what any camp should do and put the campers before all else.

    Cons

Many counselor a think of it as a hang out when it is not. It's a JOB jobs are meant to be hard and difficult. I agree the pay isn't the best but it is the best summer JOB there is. Counslers who expect to come and hang out all day really bring down the expirence for the children.

    Advice to Management

Encourage staff that you are approchable and can come to you with anything.

I worked at ESF Camps full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Top notch training.
Experienced peer group to work with who really care about children and their development.

    Cons

Some staff who don't by into ESF's continual improvement mission. Those who are complacent should remove themselves.

    Advice to Management

Continue to make children your central focus and keep doing what you are doing in adding cutting edge programming every year.

I worked at ESF Camps part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Eagles Sports Camp highly values their employees. They take time to ensure the kinds of people they hire are kind, genuine, honest, and caring people. In turn, they create an environment of respect to keep employees returning each summer. Compensation is great, and there is no night/weekend work involved.

    Cons

Because it is a summer camp, it is only season work. While the compensation is great, six weeks may not be enough work for a summer.

    Advice to Management

A pre summer training period would be a good idea for coaches and counselors who are new to child care/team management.

I worked at ESF Camps full-time

    Pros

ESF is a great place to work. The staff that work there make you want to come back to work everyday. It is great for interaction.

    Cons

The hours at the camp were long. Pay wasn't that great. There was some miscommunication around the camp site.

    Advice to Management

Hire an assistant director. More staff is needed just in case people want to have a summer vacation.

I worked at ESF Camps full-time

    Pros

Each day is well organized. Processes are in place, unlike some other camps that I have worked for. Everyone there was really welcoming and positive.

    Cons

The hardest part of this job was ending the summer. Clean up is a bit of work, but it's just like any other camp at the end of summer. I you don't like to work or take a position seriously, then don't apply.

    Advice to Management

Keep the positivity. Daily meeting are an awesome way to start the day. It keeps everyone on the same page with special events, etc.

    Pros

Very innovative company. Outstanding people to work with who really care about making a difference in people's lives.

    Cons

Every once in a while someone joins the team who does not meet the high standards the company stands for and they are asked to leave.
