I worked at EY full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good workplace culture (could be bad depending on your team) Great co-workers (many I'm still friends with today) Dedication to work-life balance (sometimes) An understanding senior management team Very willing to let younger people lead - value young talent - really big on promoting within Good exposure to C-Suite & Senior Execs at clients Great place to kick off your career and figure out what you REALLY want...

    Cons

Like every big four, it's becomes very political no matter what you're working on. You can't avoid this. Senior Managers & Partners/EDs are always trying to control headcount to build a bigger case for themselves for future promotion, even if it means stepping on others. You need to be okay with this and understand how you fit in the big picture. As "big bets" teams grew, the culture was lost very quickly at times....

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People are generally nice, generous perks (21 paid time off for manager level, full week off around July 4th, extra day off on all major holidays)

    Cons

No lunch reimbursement when you’re traveling to client site, independence policy can be a bit frustrating. Work life balance is largely dependent on the group and client.

I have been working at EY full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you are lucky enough to find a good network, fall into the right group or get the right partner, there are some fantastic experiences possible. Very dependent on project situation and client

    Cons

Do not have salary "brackets" - if you come in a lower earner you are stuck a lower earner. May not get a market value salary at promotions.

    Advice to Management

Move to salary brackets. Pay people what their market value is.

    Pros

EY is full of extremely motivated intelligent people who genuinely work hard to collaborate and deliver excellent work.

    Cons

Travel is constant. You are away from home quite a bit. Bonuses are NOT GREAT - seemingly below industry standard.

    Advice to Management

    Increase bonuses.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at EY full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Ability to meet and work with very bright people at EY and onsite with clients. Ability to be creative and think strategically. Sense of accomplishment from the clients who appreciate your work.

    Cons

Never knowing where your next project is. Constantly on the move. working round the clock on engagements or selling. Work Life balance is stressed however when you use your vacation it brings your utilization down so people tend not to take it because it would adversely affect your year end performance numbers.

    Advice to Management

Management is always asking what else did you do when it comes to year end. This creates burnout. Working on all the engagements 70 hrs a week, plus creating sales decks for new work, plus writing reviews for all the folks on your team, developing training for the teams, joining different team initiatives, it all becomes too much...
