I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

EY was a surprise to me. For a corporate it really cares about it's people. I've been in meetings with senior leaders who are genuinely concerned about how their people feel, their mobility etc.

Overall, a good company with lots of opportunity to grow your career.

    Cons

The scale of the place means that its hard sometimes to stand out, make a difference, find the right people to help you or you find (too late) that other parts of the business are doing what you're trying to do.

    Advice to Management

To senior leaders - more training and encouragement of middle management to move the junior ranks on and up and not hold them back to keep their teams together.

I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

EY is a great place to work with a fantastic feeling around the office. Everyone works together to achieve common goals.

    Cons

Since I've been at EY I haven't had any major negative points. The work is challenging but rewarding, resulting in a positive experience all round.

    Advice to Management

Since I've been at EY I haven't had any major negative points. Therefore I wouldn't have any advice for management.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Access to top clients, working with bright and intelligent colleagues. Good chance to branch out from initial field of specialism into something completely different.

    Cons

Extremely political environment where good work performed does not necessarily equate into success on the job. Internal competition for the same clients, propositions and staff. Clusters of non-performing Partners kept on

    Advice to Management

Weed out the non performing leaders and concentrate on getting out to the market. For a firm that stresses its people values, in my time, they were conspiciously absent.

I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

flexible working arrangements, opportunities to work abroad, partner approachable and not that hierarchical, great place to start your career as a graduate to grow and gain experience with a variety of clients , great brand, mark weinberger comes across as a great guy!

    Cons

too much focus on being out on client side and being chargeable, once you are chargeable, management quickly forgets about you, limited investment in learning / development if you end up in a team with insufficient L&D budget, very hard to get promoted if you don't play the game with influential people, not often adding enough value when out on client side (while charging crazy high rates / day) i've seen some people getting on really well in this organisation but you need to be driven by certain values and you need to have a specific 'Big 4' mindset

    Advice to Management

focus more on the client and adding value than on own internal politics / games / making money.

I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Exposure to different companies
-Flexibility (Allows you to take charge of your own schedule)
-If you are unhappy with one team or project, you have the ability to move to another project or another service line as long as you put in the effort and remain proactive
-EY presents you with global opportunities or opportunities to work abroad

    Cons

    -Office politics
-Women are not as heavily represented in the higher positions
-Working in external audit, you will sometimes be forced to work with individuals who do not like you or see you as an annoyance or burden
-As someone coming from EY San Francisco, EY London salaries are not proportioned to cost of living

    Advice to Management

-Be more visible in the day to day work to encourage the consultants
-Provide performance bonuses or more performance driven compensation because the motivation for doing well is low due to no reward for people that outperform others
-There is a lack of positive recognition for employees that perform well

I have been working at EY (More than a year)

    Pros

EY has given me the best of opportunities to learn and implement knowledge. The best place to work with a good environment and grow in career.

    Cons

EY has three months busy season and extended working hours. I have always been flexible to stay in office to meet my client's urgent deadline. The only challenge is EY doesn't pay extra for extended hours shift.
