I have been working at EY full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

People. People. People. The culture is great, I enjoy being around the people I work with, and they place a strong emphasis on work life balance, and making sure resources don't burn out. Frequent Traveler program for anyone flying 50,000 miles or 100 hotel nights in a rolling 12mo period - allows any 3+ hr flights to be booked in First/Business, gets you a free Corp Platinum Amex, and below Senior Manager - expense your entire mobile phone bill.

    Cons

Compensation. Independence with Audit clients. Year-end ratings and the raises/bonuses associated. No retention bonus or "catchup" raise to even out salaries for people who grew within the firm (as opposed to being hired into current position - i.e., Senior 2 to Senior Manager in 5 years)

    Advice to Management

Implement retention bonuses for long-term employees. Especially those who came up the ranks from Staff or Senior to Senior Manager. Currently the firm offers ZERO financial incentive for high performing, high ranked individuals to remain with the firm through Partner.

    Cons

the travel kills you. It does not matter how prepared you are, 100% travel is difficult.

    Advice to Management

    Try to maximize telepresence tools

I worked at EY full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you want to get your CPA and practice accounting, then put in your two years and get a great name on your resume. Other than that not many pros.

    Cons

Basically felt like I was a math checker, which is surprising considering I wasn't an auditor. A lot of mundane work that anyone can do. Unlimited sick days and the vacation was generous but it''s always so busy none of those were an option.

    Advice to Management

You need to adapt to the millennials coming in. Not everyone wants to work 100 weeks for months straight and not feel compensated for it.

I have been working at EY full-time

    Pros

Flexible teams and work arrangements, 401K, good quality team members, people who genuinely care about their people, stable annual increases in salary

    Cons

Hours, pay, local office culture isn't very tight-knit, leaders don't really practice what they preach

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting people who don't treat their people despite bringing in business, there's a reason why so many seniors leave because the wrong people get promoted

    Pros

Good people, networking, Fortune 100 clients, mobility, normal hours

    Cons

Politics, Advancement opportunities based on proximity to leadership and personal brand rather than performance and development framework

    Advice to Management

Reward talent; spend more time on feedback and allow high performers the opportunity to network instead of giving them more work while their peers breeze through under the radar
