    I worked at EY full-time

    Pros

International office, interesting spread of clients, good travel opportunities, good leave policy, flexible working

    Cons

Unhelpful management team, lack of team work, lack of leadership from partners, promotions awarded based on favouritism, unfair rating system to achieve bell curve targets, insufficient staff recognition, rude management, high staff turnover, a lot of talk on the ground that management is not aware of, management can't be bothered to reply to emails, constantly missing deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Need to learn to appreciate your staff and give people a reason to stay. Being friendly can go a long way. Helping each other will promote a positive working environment.

I have been working at EY full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible, great people. Fair salary.

    Cons

Real technical / non technical divide, both for a salary but also social point.

    Advice to Management

More development opportunities for non-technical valued, hard working members of staff. Although does appear to be heading more in that direction.

I worked at EY full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some technical and management experience. However, I gained 90% of useful experience when left EY , while working in industry. A good name to put on your CV . A possibility to become a partner if extremely resilient and not an independent thinker.

    Cons

Partner and especially women partners overworked, stressed and do not cope. Forget about any mentoring! Manager's job is only about billing - billing-billing. Poor technical expertise due to lack of time and a focus on revenue targets. Life to work balance is non-existent - expected to work/be available 24/7. Generally rude and unfriendly atmosphere. Sink or swim approach to staff development. Partners are arrogant not approachable.

I have been working at EY (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Cons

Work life balance, not feeling part of a team, expected to get work done regardless of what jobs you are booked too

I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Diversity of staff
    - Future career prospects are fantastic
    - Business knowledge gained is unparalleled
    - Paid for my professional qualification
    - Global travel opportunities

    Cons

    - Poor work life balance (60+ hour weeks during busy season)
    - High staff turnover, resulting in a large number of inexperienced employees

    Advice to Management

    - Reward your employees if they are performing well - £300 bonuses are an embarrassment
    - Need to more business centric and less office centric

I have been working at EY as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly people, always happy to help and going above and beyond to make me feel welcome and to give me exposure to different aspects of work, buddy and counsellor system worked well, very good summer internship team, who organised some very good socials

    Cons

Not enough work, often found myself lacking a task, the city wasn't great, a little too friendly, not enough ambition, audit work can be dull, all the regional intern events were in Manchester, which is too far away, perhaps UK regional should be organised separately from Scotland so that the events can be run in the Midlands

    Advice to Management

Structure the internship in a way that allows interns enough work to do (possible take on less interns if needs be)

I worked at EY full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good starting salary, good pension scheme, good company benefits, occasionally taken out for lunch with clients and invited to attend the 'surf' bars (free alcohol), provided with a company phone and laptop.

    Cons

Strict exam policy, long hours, tedious expense forms, inflexible holiday leave, rude managers, over inflated egos, ridiculously high expectations, little reward or recognition for good work, poor on-the-job training, lots of irrelevant emails from upper management, level of security to access systems is beyond a joke.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat employees like slaves, and the partners need to take more notice of how lower level staff are treated by their immediate seniors. The cultures and values of the firm should reflect the actual business and not just be for marketing/PR purposes.
