I have been working at EY full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse culture with a lot of opportunities to learn and grow

    Cons

Promotions are very systematic and too much dependent on experience rather than knowledge. Very low bonus

    Advice to Management

Compensation should be performance basex with significant impact on bonus for good ratings

I worked at EY full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You learn a lot very quickly and learn to manage staff and seniors below you, which is rare experience for people 3-5 years out of college. Large offices so you will inevitably meet some great people. Job opportunities in accounting are endless after this job if that's what you want to do.

    Cons

No work life balance, constantly overworked, underpaid, and underappreciated. Every year the staff selection gets worse as less people want to do this job and they look to lower and lower tiered schools to recruit from. Workplace politics are horrible to manage, and lots of people make offensive comments towards racial minorities and women (lots of microaggressions in the workplace).

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge your hard working managers and seniors who are running the show. Hire better staff so the seniors don't end up doing all the work and quitting. Work on making your minority employees feel included and comfortable being themselves so you will actually retain them.

I have been working at EY full-time

    Pros

Health care, signing bonus, CPA review material

    Cons

This is strictly for those going through recruiting for the first time, wanting to pursue a career in public accounting as a CPA. DO NOT be afraid to turn down an offer. As a CPA you have many options, the brand is NOT everything but the work you do is. In National Tax Department you will be joining a very niche sub-service line. As you can imagine the demand for these niche services wont do you good in the long run if you want to eventually leave. If you truly do find an interest in one of them, ask to speak with more people you will be working with rather than those at the super-day. Please, be careful on your choices out of school, you are better off at a small firm doing real CPA work then here doing work that no one will value in the future. You may get in a group that are not CPAs and frown upon pursuing a license, even if you show an interest in your sub-service line. Be very careful, big four is not always a great option.

    Advice to Management

Think of it as a good thing that new staff show an interest in the sub-service line and not that they are trying to get ahead or puff their chest. New staff are just trying to learn what senior management want and not trying to compete... they are not thinking of making partner or something.
