I have been working at Earlham College full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility to self manage, Relaxed environment. Diversity Focused. Pay is pretty Good for Indiana.
Small School which allows each person to have a bigger impact to make a difference

    Cons

The location of parking areas seem to be in odd locations for most buildings. The sidewalks seem to be going everywhere.

    Advice to Management

There seems to be a divide between Faculty and Staff. Not sure how to make everyone part of the team.

I have been working at Earlham College full-time

    Pros

Truly cares about providing a good education to students; Some really smart and dedicated employees

    Cons

About half of the student population is very disrespectful to faculty - especially women. The senior staff does not respect faculty and staff. Despite claims of valuing equality, pay is unequal for people starting at the same time as are some other benefits.

    Advice to Management

Either run the institution as a business or don't. Don't use the business model to increase workloads and justify decisions that go against the mission of the college, then demand that employees work insane hours and accept unfair pay in order to show they care about and are dedicated to the community.

I have been working at Earlham College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people at Earlham really care about students and one another. Benefits packages are excellent. The college has a strong reputation within higher education.

    Cons

Like most of higher education, the pay is only so-so. The college has been going through strategic planning, which has added some tension to campus.

    Advice to Management

Let the kids have more fun! Besides that, it's a good community and well-run institution.

    Pros

Great place to work, the college is great, really invested in diversity, the supervisors are friendly, wonderful work environment.

    Cons

There is not a whole lot of room for advancement. But I think you'll have that with any college or university.

    Advice to Management

Be nice to your employees. they are the ones who deal with students because the are the face of the company. Keep doing what you're doin.

    Pros

Great to help students with their writing. Every session is something different. It's good to have the expectation of just improving the paper as opposed to making it perfect or an "A" paper. Students are always appreciative of the help you give them.

    Cons

Wage is the same as other basic campus jobs which do not require such an intense skill set or workload.

I have been working at Earlham College (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company offers you a lot of opportunity to try new things and grow in experience. The culture is very relaxed and fun.

    Cons

The company does not compensate you for said growth in a fair way. You are basically getting resume fodder instead of monetary compensation. There are also very few career opportunities once employed and it is pretty hard to move within the company. There is no defined ladder to climb, if that is something you care about.

    Advice to Management

Learn who your stars are and make efforts to foster them before you lose them to a better company.
