I have been working at EarthLink full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Current management team is committed to success. The people at EarthLink care about the customer and employee experience.

    Cons

Pending merger is diluting the focus, energy and resources. Need to maintain focus

    Advice to Management

Set a solid, definitive direction with specific short term goals through the merger. Be as transparent as possible to employees, especially the ones you want to retain and nurture.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time

    Pros

The people that I work with are the biggest reason I stayed with the company when I was offered a chance to move. The employees are the best people Iv'e worked with. Team management is attentive to the real issues that concern the employees, and genuinely care about the employees. Benefits are about average, however they offer generous amounts of paid time off.

The work life balance is another big reason I'm still with the company.
Management has been accommodating with scheduling and even allows remote work sometimes when appropriate, which is really nice.

This company is a good place to start your experience in the Network field. Earthlink hires many college graduates with little/no experience, as I was when I started. The nature of how the company operates also exposes you to a good variety of technologies, so knowledge and experience come quickly here.
Earthlink is merging with Windstream today so this could all change!

    Cons

There have been many confusing changes while employed here, changing how teams are arranged and where people sit which seemed meaningless. That has died down recently however. Compensation is about average, however wage increases are not known to be a strong suit here.

    Advice to Management

The Northwest repair center has always driven the best performance in every category the company can measure. Management would not be wise to significantly change how the center operates due to the upcoming Merger.

I have been working at EarthLink as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Real coding work to do, flexible hours, telecommute options, friendly, helpful co-workers

    Cons

Because so many people work in other offices or from home, nearly all meetings are over Skype, so there is a lack of interaction between people in the office.

I have been working at EarthLink full-time

    Pros

Coworkers are mostly nice and respectable. Management lets you be you.

    Cons

Different teams struggle to work together smoothly. Company seems to prefer the idea of under staffing. Pay not very competitive.

    Advice to Management

Look at what your employees are worth and decide if they are worth losing due to overworking/overburdening

I have been working at EarthLink full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The environment at EarthLink is welcoming, respectful, and friendly. The company has gone through many changes over the years, and employees are resilient when dealing with change.

    Cons

Sometimes the general employee population is the last to know when changes occur, and it can be challenging when implementing new processes that we may or may not have had a say in.

    Advice to Management

Keep communicating, hiring good people, and retaining the tenured people. Should definitely do some major marketing or advertising, "I didn't know EarthLink was still around" quote is getting old.
