I have been working at East Baton Rouge City Parish (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The benefit package is great. Blue Cross Blue Shield-Health, Always Care-Dental and Vision-Davis Vision and they offer a comprehensive pension. You choose the plan that works for you and your family. If you have your eye on a certain position, ''The City'' would be a great place to start and work your way up. Steer clear of dysfunctional managers and supervisors. Easily promote up with a degree.

    Cons

The pay is rather low so most employees work 2 jobs or they have a trade or small business on the side. Leadership is poor, there are some dysfunctional supervisors who hinder an employees process because of their inability to lead. As of April 2014, sick and vacation no longer rollover.Only the standard is offered per year.

    Advice to Management

Train, train, train and hold your supervisors and managers accountable. To lead people, you need to know how to treat people. There are supervisors who will purposely hold you back out of convenience for their own gain. Not all supervisors are alike, it depends on the person.

    Pros

Flexibility. This job gave me additional experience working in an financial setting. I would most definitely recommend a college student to gain more experience

    Cons

Overload of work. Did not give us a chance to balance off work and school life. I would want to work for another company

    Pros

Job security. hard to loose your job.

    Cons

If upper management doesn't like you, they will make it hard for you and try to make you quit to loose your invested money. Upper management doesn't follow ethics and blatant racism still exists. No raises given in about 4 years.
