I worked at East Carolina University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Laid back atmosphere overall.
Freedom to choose what time you go to lunch. Possibility of taking courses for free.

    Cons

Can be very political. Human resources are going to stand with superiors or those who bring in grant money instead of doing what is right. Smoking not allowed on campus.Salaries may not conpare to the same position in larger cities. Have to pay for parking. Parking is hard to find and often have to park far away.

    Advice to Management

Don't make promises you have no intention of keeping.

I have been working at East Carolina University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All of my colleagues are easy going and great to work with. The campus is beautiful and the equipment is on par with most universities.

    Cons

The students, location, and administration leave a lot to be desired. I have seen graduate students who cannot understand subject been agreement. The undergraduates are on par with your average community college. The area has not kept up with the times in terms of tastes, restaurants, our political views. The housing selection is awful, and the area has a fairly high crime rate.

I worked at East Carolina University part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

While at ECU I gained tremendous experience as well as respect for the work involved in multiple departments across the university. It was a joy to work at ECU and I hope to return one day soon.

    Cons

Having very limited amount of parking was the biggest downfall to working on campus.

    Advice to Management

Continue to show the respect that you have shown to me and my colleagues and ECU will remain one of the most desirable places in eastern NC to work. Thank you.
