I worked at East West Bank full-time

    Pros

good coworker relationship. The work is not stressful. supervisor is very nice. work place is nice. vacation time is sufficient.

    Cons

very high turnover rate. The company can't keep people around. After two year leaving the bank. i went back and couldn't find many familiar faces around.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should really think hard to create a encouraging environment for people to see future opportunities, and should create a better organization culture for people to feel inspired.

I worked at East West Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The insurance benefits are great. Vacation and other benefits are like other companies. If you are into sales with little to no guidance this is the company for you. If you do well in sales Management and Upper management will show much praise and favoritism.

    Cons

Company is very tightfisted on budget.
         - Uses many of its services and processing through 3rd parties.
         - Systems VERY out of date. Slowly updating them but still very behind.
         - Would not let branches order plastic knives or forks. (I know very silly but
             says a great deal)
         - Reimbursements are very scrutinized and has to be done the way that
Senior Management wants, if not then not getting paid.
         - Eliminated trainers due to cost.
    Operational wise not organized.
         - No real set standards on operations. Maybe due to the many acquisitions.
         - No communications between departments on policies.
         - Training was great when I started but got rid of trainers which will hurt new
             employees.
         - Company's motto is "One Bank One Customer" is just for show no real
             belief or enforcement in that.
    Professionalism nonexistence.
         - Overall Senior Management so very unprofessional and rude. Senior
management, customers and back office personnel mainly speak Chinese.
Speaking Chinese in front of non-Chinese customers and employees.
         - Senior and Upper Management VERY micro managing through emailing and
conference calls but no real follow through.

    Advice to Management

I really do not have any advice to management or company. After 20 years of retail banking experience this company partially killed my drive and desire to stay in banking. Not to be over dramatic but just the nonprofessional treatment, feeling of just the bottom line is most important and non pride in a company is what I am taking away from working here.

I worked at East West Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great. Variety of work keeps you on your toes.

    Cons

Either you work long hours to get noticed and promoted or you work long hours and you don't get promoted. Salaries are low with consideration to the long hours that you could be subject to. No clear career paths are ever defined. There are a lot of H1B employees around that probably exists to meet the demanding long hours and complaining will result in them getting kicked out of the US.

    Advice to Management

Promote internally. If internal employees are not good enough to be promoted, invest in them by encouraging education and training. Increase salaries. Cut out menial jobs and IT jobs by outsourcing and cut out layered senior management and hire more capable employees. Hire less Chinese-only speaking employees. Hire less H1B. Invest in system infrastructure. Stop bending over backwards for customers when the systems or back office cannot handle it.

I worked at East West Bank full-time

    Pros

Good benefit package and friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Little room to grow and learn. The bank is growing, not organically, but through acquiring other banks. Therefore, the company culture is confusing and most people that's not originally from East West Bank have low commitment to the bank.

You seldom see someone works his or her way up to management level at this bank. If they need someone at the management position, they will hire someone else from another institution. Employee development and growth is just not a part of the company culture here....

Morale is low among all the young and talented employees, they are still staying there either for their working visa or they just haven't get their next job offer yet.

Honestly, if you want a stable 9-5 job that comes with a comprehensive insurance for the whole family, this is the place for you! If not, go somewhere else!
