I have been working at East West Bank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company works hard to show you that your hard work is appreciated. More personable, more flexible with work schedule compare to other big banks. Niche market is the bank's competitive advantage.

    Cons

Not as structure. I would like to see more trainings being provided to the employees. A lot of different systems to juggle with.

    Advice to Management

Speed and simplicity are the keys.

I have been working at East West Bank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A faced paced, dynamic company with an entrepreneurial mindset. The bank funds some of the most interesting businesses in the U.S. and China. If you work hard, pay attention to detail, and are a team player this is a great place to work. The people here are some of the nicest I have encountered. The corporate office is in a beautiful building across from Pasadena City Hall.

    Cons

There is a lot to do and you have to wear many different hats - but that is the case with any high performing company.

    Advice to Management

Give HR the support to hire the best people.

I have been working at East West Bank full-time

    Pros

To me East West Bank embodies a culture of excellence. The leadership and partnerships reflect a commitment to promoting sustainable growth between the U.S. and China and strategic innovation to remain a leader in this space. The bank is thinking big and growing steadily and exercises healthy restraint to ensure the profitability and success of its expansion. For the most part the team members I have encountered across departments are intelligent, poised and motivated by their involvement.

    Cons

The concern that I hear the most, and initially agreed with, is that it is very challenging to collaborate with other teams and departments to accomplish things. Over time, I have come to realize that there are two reasons for this 1) as a publicly traded financial institution East West Bank has a low appetite for risk, so new initiatives are meticulously analyzed to prevent missteps 2) The very nature of the frustration proves that there is a good deal of flexibility at East West Bank, lots of opportunities for growth and innovation and openness to collaboration. Collaboration and drawing on collective intelligence is never a friction-free process, but taking multiple perspectives and concerns into account makes for better-tested and more sustainable solutions to grow.

    Advice to Management

More locations and expansion in Greater China and customized mentoring tracks within the organization.
