I worked at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My supervisors really care about their employees. On the Labor and Delivery/ Women's Center Unit everyone worked together to get things done, and were really aware of what others needed.

    Cons

When I worked there, there was a nurse shortage because they had all moved, but it was still an amazing place to work because everyone helped each other out so no one had to go it alone.

    Advice to Management

You guys are amazing, and I wish I hadn't of moved, because I would have loved to stay.

I have been working at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a registered nurse in a regional hospital, more opportunities for advancement and skill-development are available
Each floor has it's own dramas - some floors are better to work on
    Management is very nice

    Cons

Low pay in comparison to the field of nursing
    Pay raises are not merit-based
    High turn-over for RN's

I have been working at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company to work for. Everyone is trying to improve healthcare for the community. There are great benefits, including a free on-site health clinic for employee and dependents on their insurance. Work/life balance is good, they provide a lot of flexibility. Pay is competitive for the area. Room for advancement really depends upon the area you work.

    Cons

Administration's directive is a little scattered, employees feel disconnected.

I worked at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Leadership is generally concerned and supportive of staff, CEO cares about employees, and overall compensation is good for the area.

    Cons

Working with a big system like HCA can make things slow to happen.

I have been working at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good coworkers, 12 hrs shifts = more days off or opportunity to pick up overtime if you want it

    Cons

As in any hospital, usually start out overnights, hard on family life to work nights weekends and holidays. Low pay for RN's

    Advice to Management

Better pay for RN's and staff overall would contribute to lower turnover and retention of quality people.

I have been working at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, okay benefits, and great co-workers.

    Cons

HCA politics to deal with. Management is overly concerned about processes relating to clinical matters and certain patient demographics they fail to completely understand. Pay could be better, but you have to either "travel" here or move somewhere else to make a competitive wage.

    Advice to Management

You're doing a good job. Start paying your staff what they're worth and quit bringing in worthless travelers who supposedly have experience. Any local nursing grad would probably do a better job.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Friendly staff that you work with on a daily basis. One of the busiest hospitals around the area for Trauma and Medical.

    Cons

Pay is horrible compared with other nursing jobs.
There are numerous groups or 'clics'.

    Advice to Management
