I have been working at Easterseals part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to see the kids show progress, PTO, benefits, paid mileage and drive time

    Cons

No backups or flexibility when you have a last minute cancellation, the distance between clients can be unfair, supervisors can change your mileage and time (have to tell you)

    Advice to Management

There should be a limit to management having access to mileage and time sheet, try to keep workers within their area and do not send them across 2 cities when there area are not those.

I have been working at Easterseals full-time

    Pros

Good benefits that is all. I really can't think of anything else positive to write. I made some wonderful friends there and met some great families that I will continue to be close to.

    Cons

Horrid management. Especially at the Fairfield office. They try to pride themselves on backing up their employees but they do NOTHING to support middle management. They are always looking to end services with families over trial situations. This company is BAD.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach

    Pros

They give you an iPad and a cell phone. They pay you to log in your hours. They pay you $300 for taking a class relevant to your job and attaining an A. Pay is slightly higher than most companies.

    Cons

There's a lack of guidance from program managers and require you to be on-call. Kaiser demands that kids show progress within two weeks or they take away services from insurance. This puts a lot of pressure on interventionists. There's also lack of understanding from management if you're sick, you've been in a car accident, or your family member is in the hospital. A year later, when they evaluate how much you'll be designated in your raise, they will cite absences from when you are sick or when you've been in a car accident as reason to give you a lower raise. It can be as low as 20 cents an hour.

    Advice to Management

Management expects us to respect the on-call rule, but if management fails to provide hours leaving us with only 6 hours a week, naturally, we are going to have to pick up other jobs that don't permit us to be flexibly on-call. Also, be more understanding when interventionists are sick. It honestly makes your company look bad when an interventionist is frequently sneezing during session and is near a child. This is reason for the 53% retention rate of interventionists.
