I worked at Eastman Kodak full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Kodak was a huge company that became a much smaller company with individual business units becoming more separated over time. It's not clear that an evaluation of "Kodak" overall is useful. It depends on what business and location a person is considering. There are still lots of bright, hard-working people.

    Cons

Constant downsizing was demoralizing. Constantly looking for places to plug "leftover" management.

I have been working at Eastman Kodak full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is now more flexible, nimble and innovative. HR policies are cutting edge including flexible (not seniority based) vacation benefits. Divisions are given autonomy to pursue their best path forward. Many innovations and product ideas queued up for success as growth engines. Great place for people early in their careers to start since current employees are highly experienced / experts in their fields and therefore available to mentor new talent and to create promotional opportunities quickly.

    Cons

Company needs to have a couple of wins from new product/technologies in pipeline to ensure path forward to growth.

    Advice to Management

Leverage technology and innovation to create compelling products that lead to growth.

I worked at Eastman Kodak full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Well known employer. In film days it provided great opportunities, but when film ended so did all the benefits of working there.

    Cons

Worked in isolation and didn't interact with anyone in the group. You got paid to produce but had no hope for new opportunities or advancement.

I worked at Eastman Kodak full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The employees at Kodak are friendly, hard working, and care about the future of the company.

    - The work is challenging and presents a growth opportunity for newer employees.

    - The company is forced to pay a premium for quality employees, so negotiate wisely.

    Cons

    - The "stable" businesses at Kodak are experiencing predictable annual declines, which the company offsets through cost cutting (i.e. layoffs) and selling off smaller parts of the business. This has been going on for decades and it will likely continue. As a result, the lack of job security may be too risky for some, but certainly not all perspective employees.

    - High pressure work environment (at times), very little international travel, wages are getting less competitive relative to risk, and the company's health insurance is not very competitive either.

    - No two processes are the same at Kodak and process improvement suggestions fall on deaf ears, or are met with excuses.

    - The average work week was between 60 and 80 hours.

    - Those who give everything are rewarded with more work.

    Advice to Management

Increase senior management exposure to daily processes.

I worked at Eastman Kodak as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly encouraging team, people and culture. Lot of opportunity to learn stuff. Experienced people around to help train and mentor.

    Cons

Nothing much. A few systems are a little old and seem outdated, but Kodak is i trying to evolve, may be they need a little more time to catch up. rest all is fine.

    Advice to Management

Kodak has a wonderful culture, spirit and right people. Need to get a few right moves to bring it back to prosperity that it enjoyed in the 90's.
