    Great place to be from

    Pros

Brand Name Products. A diversity of jobs to choose from, as well as great co-workers. You get involved in products from cradle to grave, which allows great job opportunites. The multipe locations, allows for travel as well

    Cons

Constant downsizing, poor raises, and a lot of red tape in getting decisions made. In its heyday, it was a great place to work. With the demise of film and the introduction to digital photography, Kodak was too slow to react properly which resulted in the huge downsizing. In 1982 there were over 60,000 employees in Rochestr, NY. Today (2008) that number is about 9,000.

I have loved my 21 years at Kodak! I've had some awesome opportunities!

Jan 7, 2009 - Business Analyst in Rochester, NY

    Pros

I've been at Kodak for 21 years now and love the fact that I have had the chance to completely change assignments every 3-4 years...it's helped me to gain so much more experience and has given me a chance to grow in a way I could not in the same job year after year. I've learned a lot and that's what I love most. I also really like the people I work with....in this regard there have been a few bumps along the road, people I would not like to work with but that's more the exception than the rule. Regarding pay, I have been extremely happy with the level of pay....benefits are average I guess...nothing stellar there.

    Cons

Unfortunately the economic downturn is taking it's toll...so things are getting rough everywhere, including Kodak. The constant (huge) down-sizings are tainful. And of course massive down-sizings just turn everything upside down and add so much stress for everyone. Another down-side is that there is very little recognition...even the free recognitions of 'nice job', 'thanks', etc....which is discouraging during a time of no raises.

    Pros

The people I work with and my immediate supervision have always been great and a driving force in staying in the hope that one day Kodak could return to being the once great company it used to be.

    Cons

New Executive Leadership creates an unpleasant work environment. CEO runs the company by instilling fear and intimidating the employees, He constantly tells the employees “if you don’t like it I’ll help you pack your office”. Took away our flexibility to work from home that has been in place for years. Office environment is bleak and depressing. Old decaying, empty buildings, a reminder of the great company Kodak used to be but no longer is. Closed our cafeterias, now we are forced to eat unhealthy food out of vending machines. Haven’t had any raises or promised performance bonuses in 8 years. No professional development. Training is basically nonexistent, new employees are forced to learn what they can from their coworkers. Stagnated careers, no promotional opportunities because the company is always in the downsizing mode. Never ending layoffs, furloughs and pay cuts. Shrinking benefits.

This Is Still The Same OLD Management, nothing has or will Change.

Sep 21, 2013 - Applications Support Specialist in Dallas, TX

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Health insurance, your peers, exposure to the way large companies operate, great start and good starting salary for an entry level out-of-college single rookie who wants to be a road warrior

    Cons

Absolutely no work/family balance if the job requires any travel. Old golden watch managerial culture, giving managers incentives. Carrot on a stick methodology making promises to lower ranking employees just to get the job at hand accomplished but never making on their promises. Get the highest salary at negotiations because you will never see a raise or any type of increase. Management has this mentality that non-managers steal from the company, and create policies to nickel and dime and micromanage their staff in order to get their annual managerial bonus incentive. Take the job offer going in with your eyes wide open otherwise you will be disappointed. Use this company as an opportunity in your career advancements but never do anything for them that is not policy or a unwritten promise, you will be disappointed.
