I have been working at Eaton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, ok employees, ok pay, legacy products, well known brand, some knowledgeable people, headquarters is beautiful , can relocate if you want

    Cons

No training, top talent expected to move every 1-2 years. Management is sometimes unskilled and difficult to work for. Plant closing. No new technology in some locations.

    Advice to Management

    Robust training program, vet
Management and have employees rate them. Stop moving too talent all over. More time is needed to get things accomplished

I have been working at Eaton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Peers and colleagues are fantastic and welcoming. Amenities are great at U.S. HQ, great facility. Working remotely (but be prepared to be questioned and scrutinized about it.)

    Cons

Avoid. Micromanagement and cronyism at it's finest under current senior & c-level cyber security leadership (VP, CISO). The SME-to-Technology Ownership ratio is unmanageable. The SME-To-EndUsers ratio is unmanageable. Severely understaffed and team morale at the lowest it can possibly be. Outdated "Sweatshop" IT-management focus. No regard to well-being of engineers. Always need to "own" one more thing. Push push push. HR ignores HUGE staffing and leadership problems. Individual contributors feel pressured 24/7. Doesn't take cyber security seriously, just a network request fulfilling team disguised as infosec. Zero focus on overall cyber security despite IoT-heavy focus.

    Advice to Management

Allow engineers to work independently and lead instead of being micromanaged. Hire double the size of the team to catch up with business demand, one-two technologies per resource instead of 20 per resource. Bring salaries up to market value if you are going to push your resources so hard. Cyber security talent is not cheap labor, spend the money. Compensation-to-duties ratio needs improvement. Appreciate the sophistication of the systems and appreciate engineers' hard work through recognition and growth opportunities.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Partnering with other Fortune 500's, always new JV's and M&A activity. Very well paid for the Cleveland Area.

    Cons

You've got to stand out and impress people everywhere if you want to continue to progress. You have to be willing to do the job that no one else will, but if you demonstrate that loyalty you are usually rewarded long term.

I worked at Eaton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Beautiful new building with amenities.

    Cons

Many managers were "appointed" not by skills. It appeared that it was random appointment or "who you knew". And unfortunately, these managers were awful to work for. They did not understand how to manage people. Very disappointing and the biggest reason I left. I know others that left for the same reason.

Our team was very overworked and underappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers with management skills. Acknowledge an appropriate work/life balance. Appreciate workers for the hard work they do.
