"Good at creating safety and ethical facade during interview"

    I worked at Eaton full-time

    Pros

Benefits were average for manufacturing environment. Some flexibility in work schedule. Able to take time as needed for sickness for family.

    Cons

The company does not practice what it preaches in terms of safety and ethics. If you report an OSHA violation to corporate level mgmt, they will consider it to be not be unethical enough. Trying to skirt OSHA recordables and not report on the OSHA 300 Logs is a big deal. Apparently not enough of a big deal for Eaton. EHS is treated like a necessary evil. HR is even more of a joke throughout the company (every division). They are trying to do away HR with HR services. From what I understand, other plants have had similar issues from what I experienced. I would not recommend working for this company. They are quick to make cuts and run the entire facility Leadership Team ragged. At the interview I was told they didn't run a lot of overtime, that was a complete lie.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the members of the Good 'Ol Boys club within upper mgmt. Hire some people that actually stand behind their words. Don't focus on metrics for performance ratings. Tying someone's goals to the OSHA TRCR (Total Recordable Case Rate) is only asking for trouble. Please keep in mind that a TRCR of 0 is not the best goal and will only encourage not reporting incidents/injuries.

    Pros

Mediocre pay. Other than that there is no pro's. Sandy Cutler wants profits and does not care about the people who actually make the product that gives them their profits.

    Cons

Almost everything. Pay isnt great. Benefits are terrible. Management is unethical. Corporate promotes unethical and greed acts

    Advice to Management

Treat employees like human beings. People should be more important than profits.

I have been working at Eaton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros: you work with good people in your department.

    Cons

They promote the wrong people. It's all about who upper level management likes, and not about who works hard and knows the job. There is no work life balance, it's all work. In my department --they demand that you work obscene hours a week because they are so short staffed. Management will walk by and not acknowledge you. HR is not any better. I would not feel comfortable going to them with any issue/problem that I had. The main problem is the highest level management has no clue what is going on with their company, because if they knew the conditions they would be outraged. It is truly an unethical company that prides itself of being ethical.

    Advice to Management

Management is the worst part of this company. Pull it together. Half the managers don't do work. Don't speak to their employees and especially don't know the job. Management makes the company look bad. Take time and speak to your employees, and not parading around and leaving early.

I worked at Eaton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Eaton is very large so there are opportunities to move up the ladder especially if you are willing to relocate or transfer into another division.

    Cons

They portray themselves as an ethical organization however if you file a complaint through their hotline, nothing and I mean nothing will happen. No one will contact you to get more information; they may or may not tell the person a complaint was filed. If they like you nothing will happen to the person and if they don't like you they will find a way to fire you for making the complaint!

Glassdoor makes you write a pro but really there aren't any. Avoid this company!
