I worked at Eaton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Eaton is very large so there are opportunities to move up the ladder especially if you are willing to relocate or transfer into another division.

    Cons

They portray themselves as an ethical organization however if you file a complaint through their hotline, nothing and I mean nothing will happen. No one will contact you to get more information; they may or may not tell the person a complaint was filed. If they like you nothing will happen to the person and if they don't like you they will find a way to fire you for making the complaint!

Glassdoor makes you write a pro but really there aren't any. Avoid this company!

    Pros

Salaried Employees....at this site most managers do not track vacation time used and HR has expressed a term Take as much as you want, there are no restrictions. Now that may not be the case with all managers as there are some that go by the rules but you don't know until he's your boss. Negotiate leave if they extend a offer or be upfront before hand they will flex on your vacation allowance.
    Hourly employees- think twice

    Cons

The new benefits for 2016 are terrible. They keep taking away which is something Eaton seems to enjoy doing. If you are married and you have some insurance with your spouse but they don't offer something that Eaton does. This coming year you can not take for example dental. You either have to take the whole package or nothing at all. very unfair. Its not fair for the employees but I guess its a great cost savings to them as a company,.
Flexible spending accounts went away...WHY? its a non cost benefit to the employer other than funding it up front at the beginning of the year all the while the employee pays it back with Payroll deduction.
Don't' take the job because of benefits...Eaton's motto is They don't want to Offer the Best Benefits they just want to be on Average.
Why not try to be competitive with better than average????

    Advice to Management

REAL Communication is nice, it would be wonderful to get that. The turn over is getting worse because of the management...its not coincidence everyone is leaving.

I have been working at Eaton (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The junior employees and engineers make Eaton great.

    Cons

Managers tend to either be "heavy-handed" or a wimp. The heavy-handed ones are domineering, opinionated, closed-minded and unprofessional. The wimps cower and let the bullies rule. I don't think this culture exists in the rest of the company. Your division may vary..

    Advice to Management

You should take a careful look at the example set by a few managers. They ruin the environment for everyone else.

    Pros

very safety oriented, this is the only positive which isnt even enough to fill up the twenty word minimum for this section

    Cons

Eaton managements first instinct in the face of adversity is to go after their employees. I have been here just over two years. They have instituted forced unpaid leave, delayed the timeline for handing out raises every year and now they are taking away our 401k matching. All these things are pay cuts in different packaging and all because they expect the market to decline. Heres my favorite quote from this American company "further strengthening of the U.S. dollar, which impacts us negatively" which was also one of their justifications for the pay cuts. Their health insurance is the worst i have ever had anywhere and their pay is not competitive if you live in an expensive area.

    Advice to Management

Stealing from your employees is not a valid cost savings strategy. Im wondering how much of a bonus upper management is still getting after all this.

I have been working at Eaton full-time

    Pros

    A lot of overtime
    Good technical experience

    Cons

Pay should be more but gets cut in half if you're working under a temp agency which companies like this love to hire.
Supervisors act like their running slavery instead of an actual job. While being on time or being active during work doesn't apply to them.

    Advice to Management

Have more room for advancement, and stop hiring these fresh out of college people that have no experience.

I have been working at Eaton (More than 3 years)

    Pros

THERE ARE NO PROS TO THIS POSITION DUE TO I AM UNABLE TO SPEND ANY TIME WITH MY FAMILY ON A PLANNED VACATION.

    Cons

Each time a request is placed to take a day or more off it is never approved until possibly the day prior to the date of request. I have not been able to take a vacation with my family in over 3 years and it is ridiculous. In January you put in a request for time off in June and you dont know until June 1 if it is approved or denied however we are planning a family cruise and have to prepay for it and risk losing over half of it if we have to cancel due to the supervisors in the building wont provide you with a timely approval.

    Advice to Management

APPROVE TIME OFF REQUESTS WITHIN A 24 HOUR TIME FRAME OR TIMELY FASHION

I worked at Eaton full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

People, they are truly the hardest working and dedicated folks I have ever worked with!
Generous paid holiday schedule for most sites.

    Cons

Massive downsizing and restructuring due to extremely short-sighted business decisions. No job is safe anymore. Unfortunately, employees have become only a liability on a balance sheet and are no longer valued for the talent and knowledge they offer every day. Horribly sad to see how the company has imploded over the past few months!

    Advice to Management

To be a successful world class organization, employees need to be valued and respected. Treating them like a commodity will only force the high potential talent to leave and the company will be left with those that only care about their pay checks and nothing else.

    Pros

Colleagues (who haven't already left) are the only saving grace of this company. This company doesn't even deserve the people who are left.

    Cons

Shareholders are paramount while company continues to decrease employee pay (MULAs) and benefits while executives continue to receive massive bonuses. No celebrations, nothing for Christmas. Not sure how the CEO rating is at 86% - makes no sense.

    Advice to Management

Stop messing with employees pay while you accept huge bonuses. Get rid of ridiculous APEX ratings process
