    Pros

Your colleagues will be awesome. Smart group. The culture is old school but when you go to the internal wholesaling dept the environment is pretty good. The field guys are among the best in the business.

    Cons

Middle Management of this firm is God-awful. Good people in a vacuum, but when you put them together in any decision making situation it's like you're watching an episode of the twilight zone. Most of what you do on the desk is superficial. You meet your metrics and go home. This isn't a sales job, it's a metrics job.

With respect to the field, most of the guys came up in the 80s and 90s so they have no idea what it's like to be an internal now. Most of them, if they had to start over, would never get to where they are now. And yet they continually act like they've been in your shoes before.

    Advice to Management

It's not the 90s. If you're going to preach intelligent distribution, start actually allowing it on the desk and stop hammering people on metrics. They make management look good but when push comes to shove it's not as productive as it could be.

    Pros

Great office, easy hours and decent pay

    Cons

to formal of a work environment. Management makes you wear a suit to work every day for a phone job.

Little to no growth opportunities; rarely do people get promoted to the external role and the ones that do get put in territories like WV.

Management will constantly look over your shoulder. A highly micromanaged work environment.

    Cons

pay your younger employees what the market dictates instead of using a stock purchase plan and 401k as a crutch

    Pros

Eaton Vance is a great company and has excellent benefits. However employee pay is very low compared with other companies. It also depends which department you work in. Many have little to no growth potential or areas for advancement.

    Cons

Not for the company as a whole but in my department, days were long and boring. More and more processes are being automated so the job is basically mindless. Pay low and no opportunities for advancement.
