    No 401k, pay for all healthcare. Will suck you in to open accounts then boot you or you will quit and they will keep your accounts.

    I have been working at Echo Global Logistics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Well there are no pros. First of all working in freight, or transportation is one step above being a car salesmen. The only people dumber than the management at Echo, are the dirty truck drivers, and shady immigrant "owners" of small trucking companies. The have no concept of leadership, especially in the Arizona Office. They bought out Advantage transportation, and those are the worst people on the planet.

    Cons

    Mid level management is clueless. They think they are so much better than the employees. Especially in the "carrier sales" department. These managers were the kiss ass type, and barely booked loads. I worked there 11 months, did not have 1 review, or goal setting session. The AZ office is run by all Advantage transportation employees, and they are clueless how to run a business. I have been in the indusrty for years, the AZ office has maybey one more year before they close it.

    Advice to Management

    Yelling at people is not managment. In the AZ office they just yell, literally all day. The employees work in fear daily, not to take lunch, and working 7am to 530-600 pm is "manditorty" with no overtime pay. The business they are practicing is illigal. The AZ managers spend all day hiding info from the Chicago office, so they dont get yelled at. They are miserable people in a miserable job. DONT EVER WORK THERE.

    Pros

    They hire you with no experience. They have decent events.

    Cons

    Horrible compensation. 24/7 job. Even worse management. Things change at the drop of the hat, and you are expected to deal or upper management threatens your job. Something happens that is out of your control. Upper management threatens to write you up.

    Trust me its not worth it.. Especially since other logistics companies are actively recruiting.

    Advice to Management

    Stop changing things, and actually pay people for their hard work

    Pros

    They pay you. Beer on Fridays to distract you from the fact you are finishing off a 55-60 hour week talking to truck drivers.

    Cons

    Bad pay, bad hours, and very little chance to advance. There is a social circle similar to high school in the Chicago office. Those who kiss up to their managers or are part of the "cool" crowd advance. The only problem is that being part of that crowd is actually kind of pathetic. Carrier sales is like working in a call center. Everyone sits in front of their computer screens all day with their head sets on, and your calls are counted. Very little human interaction leads to a toxic atmosphere, especially after the company laid off a large percentage of its employees, most of them new hires.

    Advice to Management

    Don't go on a hiring spree just to lay off a bunch of kids after a few months. Especially when your advertising both externally and internally about how much "growth" the company is experiencing. Stock price is the only thing that matters to this company, typical of a Lefkosky start up. Take a look at another one of his companies, Groupon if you want to see what the future holds for this company.

    Pros

    The company offers some flexibility in hours and work-life balance. Participates in charity events. Provides social events for employees during major holidays and the summer.

    Cons

    Leadership treats employees with no dignity. Company-wide quarterly meetings to address rapid company growth and impressive revenue, but cuts employee's pay and gives little to no raises year over year. Employees are treated as robots expected to do more with less with less pay.

    Advice to Management

    Treat the employees that make your revenue as valueable people. People who have families and dignity. The politics in the workplace are the worse I've ever seen. If you are not in the "clique" of executives, management and middle management white employees, you do not excel in this company. Its internal promotions are based on if you know someone in upper managment and nothing to do with hard work, dedication and knowledge. There is an "us" against "them" mentality displayed each day.

    I worked at Echo Global Logistics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    You will generally work 8AM-5PM, but longer hours will come depending on the amount of clients you have and what time zone they are in. Echo requires their employees (namely sales employees) to wear many hats so, while it may be annoying to manage all your shipments from entering in the database to invoice payment, all of your clients' payment collections, and deal with inevitable freight claims, it is useful experience that will increase your business savvy if you continue to work in logistics.

    Cons

    Echo has a 'churn and burn' type of atmosphere, in that sales reps and account executives will work like crazy to see little or nothing in return, aside from their base salary check. You are not valued until you produce, but most employees get too worn out before they can do so.

    There is virtually zero respect between employees and the lack of professionalism is imminent. No one holds themselves accountable for getting their job done and there are blurred lines with policies and procedures. Additionally, the culture of the company is similar to that of a high school clique. Regardless of your work ethic, education, work accomplishments, etc., it is impossible to move up from an entry-level position in the company unless you are in the in-crowd. It is no wonder that a good portion of management is actually pretty incompetent.

    The pay at Echo is severely low. The base salary is generally in the 25-50% compared to average industry rates and because your compensation plan can change at any time. It is not uncommon to see your pay drop from year to year.

    Advice to Management

    The screen when you walk into the office says "Echo Values Its Employees." This is a colossal lie and is evidenced by the amount of untapped potential at the company. HR, managers, etc. should be working with employees within the first three months to determine their strengths, weaknesses, and goals, and help them to realize their potential. 360 feedback would be beneficial because a large portion of management is pretty awful and incompetent.
